How can/does one use throw to their advantage? Is throw to be avoided? Should one always use a bit of outside english to negate throw?
 
Throw can be used as a tool in some cases but usually it's the english you want on the cueball and throw is just something that has to be compensated for.

That being said I think throwing balls in is quite natural when you get the hang of it.

Agreed. There are also advantages/ disadvantages to playing under perfect conditions. Its a wash.

With the dirty balls you have to cut OB more but you can force angles at speed easier, IMO.

Once you're comfortable using spin-induced throw deliberately, opportunities to do so come up regularly. In an 8-B game a couple of days ago I was on my last ball lined up almost straight into a corner pocket. Unfortunately I could not get a full-ball hit on it because one of my opponent's balls was slightly in the way on the left side of my ball. I could only get about a 3/4 ball hit on my ball. I took the shot with maximum inside English and threw my ball straight into the pocket. My opponent was convinced that the ball could not be made cleanly. We both remarked on how much you can throw an object ball if you really try.

To a cretin cut angle you can force angles, but large cut angles you generally do not need to compensate just aim at the heart of the pocket

FYI, maximum sidespin is not the way to get maximum throw. The most you want to use is about half of maximum sidespin (for a straight-in shot). Any more than that actually reduces throw.

Throw is the result of the CB surface rubbing across the OB surface. For a straight-in shot this happens only with sidespin on the CB. But for a cut shot this rubbing friction can be produced by the cut angle itself without any sidespin on the CB - or by both.

For maximum throw you don't want the total rubbing speed to be more than the equivalent of 1/2 maximum sidespin, so for cut shots (where some rubbing speed is added by the cut itself) you should use less than 1/2 maximum inside spin. The greater the cut angle, the less sidespin you need for maximum throw - up to a half ball hit (30 degree cut) where you need no sidespin at all.

Surprisingly, for cuts thinner than half ball you actually need a little outside spin to maximize throw (because the rubbing speed without sidespin is already too fast). This is one reason why using outside spin to reduce throw on cut shots is tricky.

I have to agree with Patrick. The more side spin the less the S.I.T. Speed helps break friction (throw).

what is the difference beetween CIT and SIT?

Throw is always produced by the CB's surface rubbing across the OB's surface. CIT and SIT describe the two ways that rubbing can occur.

Contact-Induced Throw (or Cut-Induced Throw) = throw from the CB rubbing across the OB on cut shots.

Spin-Induced Throw = throw from the CB rubbing across the OB because of sidespin.

On cut shots with sidespin both kinds of rubbing are present.
