Tiger Onyx or Kamui Black soft

I've used Kamui Black super soft and Onyx ... I know they aren't the same hardness level but as far as other characteristics (holding shape, spin production, chalk retention, etc) I like the Onyx more.

I have used a Kamui Black Soft for about 2 months after perhaps 10+ years of using Moori mediums. I like the Kamui a lot. Grips the ball well, nice feel, very low maintenance. Overall a great tip.

I haven't tried the Kamui, but I've got the Onyx on my playing shafts now - they feel and grip well - and stay that way consistently with very little maintainence. It's a great tip so far.

I had a Kamui Black SS on my recently sold ob-1 and loved it. Personally loved the feel, soft but with feedback. It also held chalk well and crazy grip on the cue ball. Best thing about it was that I don't think I ever miscued during an actual game. Just when I was messing around.

Luckily, I won a TNT cue with an ob-2 shaft raffle(Thanks jemerson23!) and will be getting the tip replaced soon. I can't go wrong with the Kamui. For me, how much better can a tip get?

With all that said, part of me still wants to try the onyx!

I am using kamui soft brown. Best tip for my lousy stroke. Holds shape an holds chalk. Grips the cue ball there are marks to prove it. Like using power steering for the first time.

Have tried both, well actually the Kamuii Blk Medium and the Onyx.. I like the feel of the Onyx much better.. It's all about what you like. YMMV

Well,
If you want a true medium tip I would get the Tiger Onyx and if you want a medium tip with a softer feel I would get the Kamui Black soft.

I got some weird thing going, I have two shafts, both has onyx tips installed on them, they look exactly the same, But for me, one onyx plays better than the other onyx, why is that? can somebody who knows about tips or have experience tell me what I have to do for the new onyx tip to make me feel and hit exactly the same as my other onyx/shaft?

this is really annoying for me.... draw shots/spins aren't the same, even tho its same shaft, same tip.

I decided on the Onyx and will try it out today. My installer was leaning towards the Kamui Black SS and another customer said go for the onyx. Pretty much a toss up but time will tell.

I have been playing with a Tiger Sniper. I am planning on installing a Kamui Black S on my OB2 soon.

The latest batches are better than the early ones. There was a learning curve when they made the Onyx because the leather selection was different than they were used to with the Sniper. They actualy scrapped much of their old stock. The new ones are more consistent.

Unfortunately there are also deviations in tips. Tiger tries very hard to get consistent quality, but sometimes it's not always possible.

After one playing session I'd say the Onyx is "predictable". It grabs the cue ball very well, no miscues, holds chalk well.I wouldn't say it's a soft medium, it's pretty firm. So far so good.

I've got the Kamui Black Soft, and I love it. Great control, great feel/feedback, everything I can ask for and then some. I haven't tried the Onyx though. Can anyone tell me how the Onyx compares to the Everest tip?

to be honest i thought the everest felt cheap. like a grippy piece of plastic or something

Yeah, the Onyx isn't a soft hit really ... but it gives a firm feeling hit with the "grab" feel you would expect from a much softer tip.

I'm still loving my Onyx even though I'm STILL doing drills to get used to the higher spin I'm getting from it.
