Time for a decision

I didn't get alot of feedback from my original thread so here is the cue at crunch time. It is time to decide whether to try barbells one more time or not. I would hate to have to cut off a butt sleeve with such nice burl in the windows if i screw up again but i think the veneers need barbells on the end. Any opinions welcome

Nice cue so far.....

I do think the cue will look better with barbells, not just floating veneers.

Just my thoughts.

Good luck with it.

Thats a great looking cue the way it is! Barbells might look better but its hard to say. I would be proud to own and sport that cue the way it is. Good job

It's a great cue as is! I think it's late to add barbells! Put some ivory
dots in the rings, 8 of them, lined up with the points. That would tie
the front with the back!

its a great cue,but it would be a great cue with some mother of pearl diamonds in points, dots and something like bar bells or mother of pearl notched diamonds above and below the veneers

seems like a winner either way,the points just seem too nice not to go a little further

i suggest you you follow your own good judgement and wrap it up

Thank you to everyone for your opinions and suggestions. Let me just clarify a couple things. One I am from Canada so ivory is next to impossible to acquire so that's not a very viable option. Two I am very limited currently to the inlay work I can achieve as I do not have a pantograph, CNC router nor steady enough hands to go the phillipino exacto knife route lol. This is why I was suggesting turning the floating veneers into barbells by inlaying circles at the top and bottom (material still to be determined) The issue is although I think it would look great this would be my third attempt at this the first two of which ended completely unsuccessfully as the following pic will show. The indexing might only be slightly off but certainly not products I would sign my name to nor put into anyone's hands other than the GF who's only reply would be "Oh Pretty" as she proceeded to miscue whitey straight into the rail. :-)

I like the look so far what will you put in the windows ?

Windows I was actually planning to leave and let the nice Burl stand on it's own merit

Ebony Propellers in the Burl, Ivory Propellers in the points? Or Ivory in both locations?

Ok people let me say this again. I do not have a CNC router nor a pantograph so cutting in-depth and intricate inlays into my cues at this time is not an option. No diamonds , no propellers, no notched diamonds, no spears, no bow ties. I have the capacity to attempt to turn the floating veneers into barbells and that is the basis of the thread. I honestly do not like a lot of inlay in my cues I try to let the wood and my work stand on it's own merit. I was only thinking of attempting the barbells to try something different

It seems that your original thought was to have barbells. It looks great the way it is, but will you be happy if you don't successfully complete your original design? Eventually you will want to figure out your indexing issue. Why not do it now?
Just a thought,
Josh

IMHO highly figured wood is much nicer to look at than inlays. Im not a fancy kind of guy though either.

I'm a bit of a sucker for the looks of good wood. I would leave it be. If you were to dot the veneers and make bar bells, I would think you would put something in the points to tie it together. Personally, leave it be and make the cue you want.
