Recently I got a call from Glen, "the REALKINGCOBRA", asking if I'd be interested in working with him on some table recovers. I had never met or spoken to him before but I knew him from this forum and thought it would be a great opportunity to learn from the best! The location of the pool room was a four hour drive but it was well worth the trip! We worked for 3 days at Pro Tyme Billiards in Orland Park, IL. We recovered a Diamond 7' smart table and a few Gold Crown IV's. He taught me several very useful ideas, including his method for glueing bed cloth and how to achieve professional looking results recovering rails and finishing pockets. I feel very fortunate to have gotten the chance to work with a great mechanic and we had a great time just chatting about pool stuff. If you ever get a chance to meet or work with Glen please do so, you'll be glad you did!

I understand what you're saying, Donny. I've been doing tables just as a side job for about 10 years now, & I sure wish I had learned how to glue the cloth that way a long time ago!

the bed cloth pull is money. stay with it, it will take months to be good and your knuckles will bleed. but when players start noticeing the difference in play it all worth it.

The boy can talk about pool thats for sure. When I ordered my table I mostly dealt with one person at Diamond, a man named Aaron. Great guy to deal with but I was impatient and felt the need for updates on my table every 5 days. I let the boys know that I was going to get Glen to set up my table and Aaron told me that I was going to love this guy because he would be able to keep up with me on " talking pool ". I told Aaron that I would believe it when I saw it .......... well I saw it:embarrassed2:.

Give me a mechanic that want's to learn something new...and I can change anyone's game plan:D Told you I'd rub off on you Jack:thumbup:

Glen

It rubbed off on me too. I was ready to stop doing tables when I met Glen Just to see what he was talking about and his ball polisher. Now all I do is jones to work on tables all day trying to walk away from my regular job of 11 years and be a full time table mechanic.
Every minute with Glen is or was valuable knoledge to all.
