You're funny man. And smart too! That's exactly what I was trying to do. I was trying to knock the price down on this cue so that I could buy it. Because that's just what I want: a 30 year old conversion (that a reputable source told me has already been cut and had a maple handle added underneath the wrap) and has a large crack in the buttsleeve. Sounds like a winner to me.

Tell you what Vass. I know you like South Wests. I have one that I've been told is worth about $2200 by several people. So I'll put it up for sale with a starting price of $5,400. Sound good? Let me know if you're interested.

I have some ivory that was set to be used on the Titlist cues. The parts never made it into production.

I'll tell you. Its a 1960's / 1970's titlist. Correct?! Mediocre at best. Large crack in the butt meaning that the butt section will have to be removed and replaced. The forearm shows seperation in veneers. Popular opinion says its worth about $400. You charged $500 (after having reduced your price from $550)!!!

I don't like it. That's why I didn't buy it, make an offer on it, or even give it a second thought until I saw you overcharging for a cue yet again.

Take it easy man. And keep up the good work. Its entertaining.

Here's some of the parts I have..... Almost everything you see is an original Brunswick part meant for use on the Titlist/Hoppe.

Why do you care so much? He obviously got the going rate for it or it wouldn't have sold. Are you this big of a pompous jerk in real life or does the computer screen give all the sack you need?

Last I checked we can sell things here for whatever we want and if you don't like don't buy it. With all the lowballing going on here we should all start high.

The computer screen means very little to me. I'll tell it like it is online and off. For example, if you were standing in front of me right now, I'd tell you to your face the same thing I am about to say here:

While I seldom if ever agree with anything you have said here on AZ, I have to admit, there is a part of me that loves reading your responses because there is a great irony in all that you write. For example, you wonder why I'm interjecting my thoughts and opinions here on Vass' thread. Well, lest we not forget that Vass originally asked people for their opinions, meaning that he is open to comments both positive AND NEGATIVE. He then opted to disregard the popular consensus and increases the asking price by $150. By asking for an opinion from anyone and everyone, he leaves himself open to criticism when he blatantly disregards the feedback and comes up with his own price.

Here's the thing though. I've read this thread several times over and NOWHERE do I see anyone say that they want or need Bishop to chime in with his opinion on mine and several other members' inquiries as to why the price was increased.

Vass is a big boy. Surely he can defend himself and fight his own battles. What the hell does he need you for?!

I don't recall him asking for it here, no where on this thread did it say, chim in with obnoxious opinion. Not to mention he sold it for the going rate. So why do you insist he's trying to screw people if the cue sold anyway? Just because you think it should have sold for 100 or 150 less that means you're right? Then by-golly you being the resident know-it-all should stand in and say something.....absurd? It obviously had more value than you think. Why insult someone for no good reason other than to be a jackass? Did you once see me say anything to anyone on the thread where he asked for peoples opinions?

Here's the thing, Bishop. You and thousands of others just like you walk through life with your nose in the air, looking down on an individual like me. You conform to a set of popular beliefs and what you might call acceptible moral and social behavior. In short, you are pretending to be something that you are not.

I, on the other hand, speak what's on my mind. I am true to myself and to those who have earned my respect. Still, I do not bend over and bow down to anyone. I am my own man and act accordingly. The result, I am by my own admission an ass... by YOUR definition of the word. In reality, I'm one of the few people on this forum who is 100% real.

Here's the deal Bishop. Vass asked for an opinion. Several people with a great deal of knowledge on the subject gave their opinion. Vass then increased the price DESPITE what they said. Yes. The cue sold. Well, I got news for ya: that doesn't make it worth what the buyer paid. It only makes it worth that TO THE BUYER!!!

I never claimed to be an expert. I simply questioned (along with several others) why an individual would ask others what a cue is worth and then disregard some of the other 'experts' and raise the price. I still haven't gotten a valid answer from Vass but that doesn't suprise me in the least. Now read this part carefully: YOUR OPINION IS BOTH UNWANTED and UNNEEDED. Stop typing, click on the back arrow, and go find another thread to stick your nose into.

Just to let you know...your reputable source is either confused or got the wrong cue.... as I saw the cue today with the wrap removed and sure enough it's a full splice blank. It's probably one of the nicest example that I've seen....upon close inspection you can see the curly maple and it does look like the slight crap in the butt will cut out. The biggest bonus is that the cue roll dead straight and the point is near perfect..any decent cuemaker can probably true it perfect. Man...wish I had grab it from him.

im not taking sides here but let me add.

1. im sure it is a full splice cue. alot of these "legend cuemakers" werent what they are cracked up to be. most used titlists bc they couldnt built thier own forearms. just added some ringwork, inlays a joint and some even bought shafts precut

2. it wont be for lone bc as big as that crack is there is no way youre getting past that. there is no way at 12.75 that crack will be gone. something will be added

3. 550 is deff not market value. little high. u have the right to sell for what u want. most cuemakers including myself would rather have a 1 pc cue to convert. i sold 3 for cheaper than this in way better condition. i got 4 that were pretty much unplayed with original tips (all but 1) packed away for 30 yrs.

i am always on the look out for these cues. given the circumstances i wouldnt have paid more than 300 for this. maybe not even that. i come across them all the time. never at 550$ unless theyre ebony then if give my right arm.

just curious. im sorry if im wrong but did you posy who aought this for 550$ id love to know who it was. if the cue was even sold that it. obv duc said he saw the cue today wrapless
 
I thought the selling price was $500 shipped? But i think it is not that outrageous if it were sold at $550. Not the cheapest. But if someone is looking for something cheap and good he would probably be better off scanning ebay and try his luck there. I think this cue was offer to who ever wants one that looks like that now. Quickly and without hassle.

Afterall there are some who would pay slightly more to buy from someone reputable then to try his luck in ebay.

Hey you guys should be focusing your attention on the hoard of good stuff that Ryan a.k.a Rats has been keeping and posted awhile ago! Nice stuff! I think he could completely rebuilt a new willie hoppe!

I don't hold my nose up in the air. I simply respect the people around me because its the honorable thing to do. No one is trying to stiffle your opinion....in the right place. I've said it a thousand times. You and I are very similar with one difference, I choose to be an ass when the opportunity allows it and its acceptable to form a negative opinion and its warranted, you're an ass anytime you choose, at any moment of the day, and at anyones expense and then excuse it away as "being real".

Its people like yourself, that go around treating people with no dignity and respect because you simply are capable of opening your mouth, thats generally wrong with society as a whole. Do you go around harrassing every clerk and sales associate everywhere you go, because you're keeping it real? Do you pound the counter at the gas station because you think the gas is too high? Does your chode explode at nearly every waking moment, because lets face it, we live in a free country and you can $hit on anyone you please because dammit you're real.

Its simple common decency that you totally lack and then you excuse your behavior away like it perfectly acceptable to treat anyone the way you please because...well, your an ass and thats just the way it is.

So what are YOU willing to pay for cracked Hoppe Pros WITHOUT the original leather wrap, NO ivory ring, NOT from the 1940's? NOT a rare wood? for conversion, not restoration? $500? really?

Terms like 'common decency' and 'lack of respect' are all relative. For example, you look at me and say that I lack respect for others. I say I'm just calling people out on their bullshit.

If Vass wanted to charge a premium for a cue, he should never have asked for opinions on its value. By doing so and then adding 25%-35% to the price, he leaves himself open not to ridicule but to inquiries. Thats all that happened here.

The ironic thing is that you interjected with your opinion which was to come at me and the others who questioned Vass' intentions. So let me ask you Bishop: You butted in where you were unwanted and unneeded and gave me a hard time to defend someone that neither asked for it or needed it in an argument that had nothing to do with you. Do you think thats worthy of mine or anyone else's respect?

And I don't use 'being real' as a defense or an excuse. I use it as a way of defining who I am. You questioned whether or not I am like this in person. Well, I got news for ya. There are several reputable members of this forum that will tell you - this is who I am. Make no mistake about it. I don't sugar coat things. I don't lie to placate people. I don't simply go with the flow because people want me to. And in my eyes, anyone who does is being dishonest to themselves and to others. You want respect Bishop? Earn it. If for some reason i have lost my own titlist play cue and have a good cue maker ready to make my cue. I would probably jump on this cue unless there is really a crack in the veneer. I feel that curly forearm is quite hard to come by. But i do not need one so I am not buying it but just giving an opinion so that the seller can decide for himself and set his price. If it were really price out of the realm of sanity it would not have been sold i suppose.

For conversion I think the butt sleeve crack is really not that important. Till date I have only had 3 conversions done for me. The only thing that i am really concern about is whether the full splice can be maintained.

You are right that this discussion is quite ridiculous considering that the cue is already sold. But this is what makes this place interesting. No? So let just move on shall we.
