to core or not to core

hi gents, hopefully someone could help me with this. I have these rosewood pieces that would like to use for cues. Should it be cored or not? The grains are not straight base on the attached photo. Would age be a factor? This is about 10 years old.

thanks for the help.

I would turn them round and see how stable and heavy they seem to be. Then I would make the decision on coring or not.

They look like crosscut coco suitable for pens.
Not the usual straight grain for cues.
They will not stay straight unless cored.
Crosscut woods look funny in cues imo.

hahahaha, yeah, they look funny. that was also my first impression.
but after a while, it looked beautiful, at least in my eyes.

by the way, thanks for your input.

will commission a cored plain jane and an 8 pointer. will use plain light colored points with veneers, at least to have some contrast. do you think it would work?

Brw

as per wood supplier, brw. but i havent tested it yet for flouresence, so could not confirm it. is there any other to test it for confirmation?

thanks

Scrape it with a razor blade. If it is dalbergia nigrae it will smell like bubble gum.

I would sell them to me :):)

a follow up question on this, if the handle is to be cored, the "hit" is dependent on core wood material, right? and the figured wood will be decorative only. and the balance is dependent on the densities/weight of figured woods.

thanks
