To Many times

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim and spending a day shooting pool with him
a few years ago. If you ever meet him, then you'll know why he doesn't like being mean to people.

Jim's and mine working relationship always has been, friends are friends and business is business. But I guess its time to start charging 50% down, specially when you are relying on this as a sole income.

Jim, from reading the emails, it looks like the jp's you made were for a Schon. I have a couple Schons and if you want to pm pics and a price I would get them out of your hair.

Hi I have a couple offers to but these j/ps , which I really appreciate . I you are interested , I posted 4 sets in for/sale section . But , please make sure the work for you . Thanks Jim

I had a great time in Vagas with Terry and his Wife , great people , enjoyed showing him around town , and playing some pool , of course , can't waite till we see them again . Jim

As much as we've exchanged emails and PM's about building me a set of j/p's for a few of my cues, I would consider myself a "new" customer since we have never completed a sale, I would NOT be offended in the least if a down payment or even full payment was asked for up front since I would be considered a "new" customer, I would completely understand needing payment up front. Your reputation far exceeds my reputation on the forum and if any new customer doesn't see that point of view, then maybe you don't need them as a customer.

With that being said, I also have a Schom I am needing a set of j/p's for, post up the pics of them and I'm sure out of all the Schon owners on the forum, one of us will buy them. I've also STILL got a bunch of blank pennies I need to have engraved so I can send them to you so we can start some of my custom j/p's. This newborn kid is consuming all my spare free time right now.

In my opinion, he still owes you for the JP's.

I do think you made a mistake though when you asked him if he still wanted them. That leaves the suggestion that it is ok for him to say that he no longer does.

Jim;

I agree wholeheartedly with what mantis99 said above.

The guy does still owe for his custom jp's, imo, but your email may have let him feel like he was off the hook. You are a nice guy, Jim. Maybe, too nice.

In sales they teach never to ask the customer a question that could result in them saying no. Rather than asking, "would you like to pick up your new ____________ Saturday?" instead they suggest asking "What time on Saturday would you like us to have your new ___________ ready for pickup?"

The 50% deposit idea seems like a perfect solution. And I'd guess that most will just pay you the full amount up front just to save the step of paypaling twice.

Best,

Jim, This is why I have started asking for a deposit up front. I require a 50% deposit or full payment if case is to be personalized, (name, initials etc.). It is unfortunate that just a few have caused us to resort to this practice when so many are stand-up people that follow through.

No respect

I had a guy order a 6 point snakewood cap with over $100.00 worth of Ivory and, some Real Gold Dots in there too..
Then, the guy "Lose money Gambling".. Never bought the cap... I got stuck with it..
I didn't collect a deposit.. (I was very trusting at that time)
Now, He's still gambilng and I still got the cap.. I lose all that Money/Materials (I paid for and loss over $100.00 in Ivory!) and Labor...?
My fault.. But, I now learned, business is business.. :frowns

Az'ers, Nothing personal but, Jim and I realize:

"Joint Protectors, the Rodney Dangerfield of Pool Cue Accessories"...

I don't start a cap unless I get 100% payment and no refunds..
It is from experience, not hatred...

Thanks Alton , Your j/ps are so much higher priced , and worth it , That you get so much more time and money involved I can see it . Except for a few higher price , exotics I do I think I'm going to tough it out the way I am doing .
Paying paypal charge twicw , one for deposite and again for final payment dont seem like a good idea .

Thanks for your comments Bud . I really appreciate it . Jim
