Nothing wrong w/purpleheart, I have 3 cues that's made out of it that I love. But if some have a problem with it and they don't move, just find a someone named Barney, they would love it! :).

Good luck w/your sets, they are pretty cool. By the way, purpleheart break/jump shafts are fairly common these days. I have seen several listed on AZB.

I have a hot pink cue and hot pink case.I like to match the things. When I play with pink cue, I wear hot pink Glove, hot pink shoe laces, translucent hot pink shirt on black pants.Girls think I am Hot!

But...aren't you a girl? :p

Why not play with Ash? A little more classic in color and plays like PH.

The snooker guys love it.

the purple heart shaft is a break shaft with phenolic tip. ive used ash and have some shafts ready that are ash but dont really care for it.

Trent:

Is that "other" wood in those cues in the original post (i.e. the beautifully-grained/-figured stuff) Bacote, per chance?

Beautiful grain!

You're friend has a hangup about being thought of as too feminine. So much so that he can't even play pool with a cue made out of purpleheart.

Repressed sexuality issues are so unhealthy.

Not for me

To me that one ugly cue. Don't get me wrong the craftsmanship looks great and if it made me play like Earl I'd never put it down. It just doesn't suit my taste. Good luck with your sale.

I has a PH cue. Which reminds me, I also have a box of highly figured PH and
about 60 other pieces that need to get turned.

Don't under estimate PH when it is used as either a fore arm, butt, under the wrap handle or as a dowel for coring the forearm.

It has a nice hit to it. One of the nice things about PH is that when stained
black and you'd be hard pressed to tell it isn't ebony. One of the members here does exactly that and it turns out absolutely beautiful.

Purple is the color of royalty. It was about the most expensive dye for fabrics back in Medieval times. The King wore purple!

I personally don't like the look of purpleheart in cues though. I love bacote though.

I picked out a piece of Curley Purple Heart that to me was absolutely gorgeous. I know that some people have a problem with colored wood but I certainly don't. The wood has remained gorgeous through each turn and JoeyInCali tells me the cue should be ready late summer or early fall. Even the wrap is Burgundy/Purple Kangaroo. I just think that anyone who get on my case about it would be a pretty shaky, insecure person who would be easy to ignore.

Maybe it's not about ego and your friend just hates purple. So if you don't care, that's fine, but purple clearly upsets your friend's taste in color. Therefore I give him credit for having boundaries in taste. Would you wear chartreuse pants with pink pinstripes if they were the most comfortable pants on earth? :D

Yeah,,,looks matter to me. Btw,,,that's a nice color combination and that bacote looks sharp. Some bacote looks like cr@p. But I hate the rings and the cue generally looks half done....but that's me and I hate chartreuse. :)

thanks for the input Lalouie and the cues are very plain jane as they were made to be very affordable, for all the unemployed locals who have nothing better to do than beat balls around, but still want some nice playing cues.

thanks for the input.

and PS i have to google chartreuse pants now cuz i have no idea what your talking about lol
