Help me out Jim. They haven't played all of their first round round-robin matches, have they? Or are you just speculating based on the first three matches?

Fred

Jim, are those based on STATS or Speculation ?

If it's Stats please put them out and together for all of us to see.

Thanks,

Mj

No thats just speculation...they have two more rounds. Every player plays five matches, and then the top three advance. In the event of a tie, it goes down to the GLI, the games loss index. The lower the number the better.

Hope that clears it up!

Does anyone know how they determine what group the 15 winners will be in for the 2 day? Is it random draw or some sort of seeding system?

It's Robles and not Jones

Taking a second look at the Group 4 scorecard, it should be Tony Robles advancing to Round 2 and not Jeremy Jones.

Tough break for Allison with the choice of tiebreakers. You'd think head-to-head would come before this GLI ... but then there'd be no use for GLI in this round I guess because all ties would be decided by the head-to-head. Hard to see Niels advance and Allison go home, considering they were both 3-2 and she won their match, eh? Anybody else get caught like that?

I guess this shows the advantage and disadvantage of playing a round robin. Every game counts and it comes down to winning in the shortest amount of games or basically being able to blow away your opponent and not going to any hill/hill matches

It looks as if Jeremy Jones got ripped also. The final stat shows his total wins at 4. If you look at the box scores it is only 3. He beat Robles but did not make the cut losing out to Robles in GLI.

Okay, now I'll give some crow and eat some crow. Mostly, I'll happily eat crow.

Congratulations to Karen. I didn't think she had a chance at getting out of her group, but she got out of it easily. I know this will sound continuously misogynistic, but I have to assume that Pete Fusco is the biggest reason for her showing (apart from her skill).

Congratulations to Allison who deserved to be in the next round. But, that index system got her. I thought she also had no chance, but she did have a chance. I've seen Neil play 8-ball on tough equipment, and he ran out everything he looked at. I'm still shocked that he lost to Allison without much runouts, but there it is in black and white.

Congratulations to Gerda whose single win was a hill-hill victory over Strickland. Ouch.

Congratulations to Thorsten, whom I certainly questioned previously. But, that being said, the record shows that he was 0-2 and had to win his last three for a shot at it. And he did, which shows heart. {Edit: I don't think my statement is true. There's no indication as to which match was played first.}
Congratulations to Tony Robles, as I think his index is better than Jeremy Jonnes.

And congratulations to my pick Marvelous Marlon Manalo for being one of two to sweep his matches (Francisco).

Where did Marlon Manalo come from? I try to stay up on what's going on, but it seems like he just sort of appeared this past year. Have I been missing something or has he been flying just under the radar?

Looking at his results and listening to people talk about him, he seems to be a legitimate threat to win any event he enters.

Can anyone tell me more?

Thanks,
Scott

He's just come up into radar view last year when he came in 2nd at the World 8-ball Championship. He's a room owner from the Philippines and has been playing snooker for the most part. But, he's also pool player.

He won the Hard Times Jamboree and the Reno 9-ball Open this year (June), as well as the New Jersey 14.1 Open (October). So, he's well rounded, and has beaten the best players in the world.

I consider him the hottest player on the planet right now. But that's only because I didn't see Wu play.
