I'm in Montrose where there are no 9 ft tables period! There are two places that has coin ops, and they're both pretty rough places from what I understand. The first time I call a no cushion, or play safe on some cowboy, I can just see myself getting jumped in the parking lot! Have to make the drive to Grand Junction to find tables, but the one place I'm familiar with has nothing but a race to three 8 ball tournament every week. I'll probably avoid the tournament, but I'll probably call the place my practice home...............................................once or twice a month!! Goodbye stroke and game!!! Yeah, eventually I'll hopefully get into a place where I can put a 9 footer in. It will still be a couple of weeks before I get work, then a vehicle, and finally a house. Because I have no credit record, no employment, and no employment history here, it will be quite a while before I can expect to buy a home. But yes, a GC, or Diamond are definitely in my future plans. If my work schedule permits, I'd love to make the drive to Denver, or even Vegas for some tournaments. That was one of the nice things about being in Tokyo for so long. Immaculate conditions at any number of places within 30 minutes drive, 5-10 international level house pros in the area, and I could go 2 and out in the Japan open and still be home by dinner!!!Terry Ardeno said:

I still keep in touch with many of my friends in Japan, so if you ever need info about Japanese players, places to play, ect, feel free to hit me up. Many of the kids I've taught, played with or against are doing quite well on the international level now, so it's gonna be quite a treat to see these guys again when they're in the US for some of the larger pro tournaments.

This cue was bought brand new in 2002, used for two months and then stored away in a cue case for all of these years due to medical conditions that my friend has had to deal with that pretty much ended his playing opportunities. He said that instead of selling it for the cash, we wanted it in the hands of someone that loves the game, respects the tools, and would take good care of it! I feel pretty honored! Probably won't replace my main player though. I remember hitting with the Sruggs when he first bought it, and to tell you the truth, wasn't very impressed. It may end up sitting in my back for another ten years!! None the less, I'm excited to hit a couple of balls with it just for the plain fun of getting to play around with a new toy.

I love this story, brings a tear to my eye. I love that about the Japanese culture, everything is symbolic and meaningful. Tokyo is one of the only major cities on planet Earth where a woman can walk alone at Midnite and no one will bother her. All that traffic and you rarely hear a horn honk either. Funny Dave, the things I notice, isn't it.
As SJM said, welcome back Colorado Dave and your family. You did good! My ex lives up in those mountains near you, in the town of Ridgeway. She has sent me pics and it's truly a beautiful wonderland. But I'll bet the snow is piled deep as I speak. That may take some getting used to, for all your family.
I agree with all on here. You need that pool table bad. But I'm sure you'll have it someday. Keep us posted.

It was like watching my own house burn down with me so far away and nothing to do but helplessly watch.
I'll be starting all over again, so as you might assume, I'm pretty scared but at the same time excited. Don't have a job yet, but will look around as soon as I get back.
I picked up the game here in Japan, and at one time qualified and considered turning full time pro. Then I got married!I can no longer run more than six balls consistently without screwing myself, but I still play the local tournaments, and when I feel like donating, I'll even enter a pro event here and there. Never played a game of pool in the US, so I'm really looking forward to playing there. I'll be living in a small town on the western slope of Colorado, so I'll be very far from good 9ft tables, good players, and stimulation, so I'll have to look forward to a trip to Denver every once in a while to get a good whopping (somebody teach me how to play 1 hole!!).
For now, I'm going to be shutting down my computer and packing up. I'll be back sometime in mid December. Until then, see you all on the other side!!!
