Top 10 players where you live.

Chris Lynch would be at the higher end of this cusp group. He may miss most people's "top 10" list but would certainly be included in everyone's top 20.
QUOTE]

Are you serious? No offense Chris or Jude but Chris isnt beating Marc. Jorge, Eddie or myself for the money. Chris is in the cusp but not at the top of it.
P.S. Dont forget Sammy Wu!

So I say he might be 12 or 14th in city and you're saying he might be 19 or 20. Okay.

As far as the NYC list, it's more like a NJ/NYC list.

I think Lipsky and Chris lynch are in NJ now (I know, it's all the same sh1t...)

Personally, I might put Jorge R. Spanish Pete, Flaco, Rob Pole, Spain, Bobby B, and a few others ahead of Lynch.

*Edit- if we're including NJ (NYC metro area), you can add Joey Kong, Al Lapena, Dennis Spears, Eddie Hodan, Neptune Joe, etc

My list of 10 never included Lynch. I never ranked Lynch. The point I was making was that once you get to the 9th or 10th players, Lynch would definitely be close which would be the case for a strong number of players (which I stated). You guys are hanging on to an argument that just isn't there. Is that your list above?

Jude, theres no argument, man. Just opinions. I'm justadding to the discussion.

YEs, thats my list of players I feel belong above Lynch (in addition to your original list). It's not my final list, just a "work break" brain dump. There are others I could add too, like Mike Sica, Fat Danny, etc.

*edit-this is not to disparage Chris Lynch, just anwsering the original question

Well, I'm surprised you wouldn't include Mika Immonen, then. I mean, he's #1 in the world. I believe he should be in the top 10 in NYC.

It would seem to me that lists like this for NYC should be divided by borough. There's not a lot of movement between rooms in the different boroughs and therefore very tough to make comparisons. I know the Brooklyn crew and the Queens crew are probably the most well-traveled, so they're probably in the best position to make judgments, to be honest.

I wouldn't know anyone outside of the famous faces in Brooklyn or Queens (an indictment only on me, since I've lost my taste for competitive pool and rarely travel anymore), and I wouldn't even know the famous ones in Staten Island or the Bronx.

All of NYC is a very, very difficult list to compile. That said, these things are all just silly pissing contests anyway. ;)

Mika travels so much he's more of a "part timer". Kinda like Thorsten, Shin, Chavez(NJ). No doubt, Mika is the best player, right now.

Eric >with Lipsky on this

I'm sorry, I got a bit riled. I'm a little shocked that a couple people on this thread have taken aim at my list instead of simply posting their own. It just seems like civility is nowhere to be found on azb sometimes. Everything needs to turn into an argument.

I don't think there are even 10 pool players in Massachusetts anymore.
I guess that means I make the list :D

LOFL...now that's funny.

Once again it's ok for someone to put their opinion out there for everyone to see but when other people voice their opinion against it then they are in the wrong....

My list would look totally different. Not taking anything away from anyone on the list but alot of those guys play 1 game only and don't really get up there and play anyone.

Is this a all-around list or just a straight pool list?

I'm not gonna post my list because it's tough tht alot of players have a game which they favor or excel at.

All I am saying is, it's not "the list". It's just my list.

do people really play straight pool?
i guess just in new york.

You guys are ridiculous. In the NYC area I am probably ranked about 4,351 on the list. Of course, I don't live in NYC so I don't even know how I would be listed there.

I'm always amazed at how posts on this international forum will end up being argued by people who live in the same area (um...Brooklyn). I guess I shouldn't be amazed since it happens all the time. The most amazing thing about this thread though is that Lipsky posted something in the main forum. At least he's branching out here!

i honestly couldn't say because i don't get out enough. i know there're some pretty strong players out this way though... i'm in nor-cal
