Top 20 DRAW SHOTS of All Time … Backspin Mastery

Cueball frozen/ nearly frozen to the long rail just past the side pocket. Object ball is a diamond away and just a little more then a balls width off the rail. Extreme draw and the cue ball dances back returning to the same rail multiple times. Acts like the "high karate" shot.

Object ball slightly off the longrail a diamond from corner pocket. Cueball at 45° angle. Kick beside the object ball kicking it in down the rail. Cueball goes almost straight across the table and upon hittinging the opposite long rail before drawing down the table.

Here it is. I believe there is some draw on the cue ball, with regards to this shot. Alex Pagulayan jumps the object ball into the top corner pocket, and spins 2/3 rails for position on the eight.

That is an awesome shot, but not so much for the draw. The OB jump is what makes it special. I feature that shot in this video:

Do you have a video link showing this shot? Venom has probably done it.

I thought the same. To jump the object ball is phenomenal. To pull it off in the moment, is just ridiculous.
😎

Don't feel too bad. When somebody does pay attention you get accused of sorcery.
This the third jacked up shot, @ 3:00 ish. Note the angle of impact. This has to be a technical issue but it sure makes me inquisitive.

The 8 ball just vanishes.

The cue ball sits there for a couple frames before touching the cushion and propelling itself on the final line.
This was my favorite. The angle is not so big, but it seems to masse a little and then the spin and throw catapult the cue ball into the wall creating that weird sidewards motion. Most spectacular shot imo.

Great video DrDave!
I recall another video with insane draw. Going to dig. It was a cue or chalk promotion video.

There is more angle on that shot than you might think. The end view near the end of the clip gives a good look at the angle:

There is no masse here ... just rebound off the side cushion in combination with the backspin which is also at an angle, both sending the CB across the table.

Great video DrDave!

Thanks!

Please post it if you can find it. I love how people post many more examples when I post a video like this. It helps me make sure any future videos like this will be more inclusive and complete. I also add the linked videos to the great pool shots resource page so they are easy to find in the future.

I can't believe that Jeffery Ignacio made the 4 rail shot without dropping his elbow. Must be a lot of wrist...

Good point. Power draw is more about long, relaxed, smooth, and complete acceleration into the CB. What the elbow does after the hit is not so important (although, many people find it more natural to let the elbow drop after the hit).

FYI, I just posted a new video that presents the top 20 most impressive pro pool player draw shots of all time, showing how the best in the sport have used backspin with mastery to conquer various game-situation challenges. Check it out:

The cue, shaft, tip, etc. must have a little to do with extreme draw. Any insight?

Ah I saw it wrong, thought I saw a bit of a curve. But dont see it in the last shot. Very peculiar bounce of the rail though. It seems to lose most of it's horizontal speed at contact, but it takes of from the rail with a lot of energy.

If I recall correct it was a Asian video. It was very similar to the ignacio video though. It had 4 shots which were increasingly difficult, with setup 9 ball lay-outs.

Off the charts incredible! I suspect that Larry could do some things that no other pool player that ever lived could have done.
Those were some great stroke shots. Saw a couple 2mm draw shots and the classic 5 rail resistance draw shot. Great stroke and nice guy. RIP.

Agreed. It does look a little funny because the CB loses so much forward speed after the hit, with the draw taking a while to take effect.
