Top 5 Favorite Custom Cue Makers

You must have never dealt with a cue maker directly, quick search brings up alot on the subject
Yes, I have dealt with many cue makers including Michael Webb, Joe Gold, Tim Scruggs, Richard Black, Paul Mottey and many others. I have never once had a problem with any of them. You never seem to have anything good to say, maybe that's your problem.

theres plenty of bad deals with cue makers if you had been around long enough to see the threads, not something to let buyers forget about

no problem when i play with a cheapo perfect cue i can get in a week, no problems at all , all ive said is how amazing the cue is

I've been involved in pool for 50 years so, yes I've been around. I've heard all sorts of stories, but if you deal with a good cue makers I doubt there will be issues. They usually stem from the customer being impatient when they new the lead time, but then they begin to get impatient.

If you're satisfied with a cheap under a hundred dollar made in China POS good for you, not everyone shares your choice of cues.

Pretty much anyone that's picked up my Chinese cue thinks the same, plays as good as anything

Of what I've owned. Playability and precision construction
SW
AE
Scruggs

Only the ones I own (and still do, I never sell cues) ... in no particular order

Tucker III
Blackcreek
PFD
Lambros
Mark Bear

There are many on others lists I would like to own .. .when I do I may come back and edit this post ... or maybe not, all of the guys I listed do (or did, RIP Mr. Bear) great work and their cues are way better than my game.

Cues and cuemakers I have owned and done business with. All excellent businessmen and cue makers. Kikel 'might' be a nose ahead of them all, but honestly it really is a toss up. I always chose cue makers with years of experience and top notch reputations. IMO....

Dave Kikel
Joe Gold
Mike Bender
Mike Lambros

I have one of those Sneaky Pete cues from Players.

It plays good, but not as good as my Jackpot.

I have a dozen, or more, cues...custom and production...wood and carbon fiber...LD and non-LD, but I have fun playing with the Jackpot and it is always in my bag.

Based on cues i have owned
mobley
tascarella
nitti
dayton
Tascarella, and Mobley top 10 in the country hands down! I've owned a Chris Nitti, best cue all round for the money, when you weigh: entry price into the cue, playability, and craftmanship; he makes the best cue for the money! Top 20 cue maker!

I guess it depends on if they are alive and working, or retired, or dead.
Living/working: Tascarella, Barry Szamboti, Ginacue (rumor has it, Ernie's retiring soon), Richard Black (still active 5 to 10 bigger cues a year), Dennis Searing

Already retired: David Kikel (If people even knew how meticulous he was at turning down shafts, his phone would be ringing off the hook),
D.P. Kersh (probably the best hitting cue that I personally ever owned, was a Kersenbrock), Paul Mottey (retired due to health issues)

Already dead: George Balabushka, Gus Szam, Tim Scruggs (incredible playing cues), Jerry Franklin, Craig Peterson

Not trying take anything away from anyone else that is no longer with us: e.g. Herman Rambow, Balner, Paradise, Schrager, and T. Kohara; they are most certainly honorable mentions in their own right

Quality of there work is one thing. Trying to do business with them is another thing. I turned to Mezz after attempting to communicate with some of these yahoos.
This statement is true but not on a large scale.
Keep in mind, those that think this is an incorrect statement....have never lived near Pueblo CO.

Dealing with the pool room nits, on a business level is a WHOLE NOTHA part of life that few can relate too.
If you've ever been in sales, you DO understand.
1/3 of my career I ran Auto/Truck/RV repair shops.
What I learned Quickly....not ALL mechanics have the ability to TALK to customers, many prefer to be left alone to do their work and NOT be distracted.
