I see.... I guess overall it's a good thing. I wouldn't want to have the self-esteem problems of those guys on my conscience. You've saved me a lot of sleepless nights. Thanks.

I agree with Alinco about Mike improving lately. If he is on, he is hard to beat. I know, I have shot against him before.

And you can call him a dark horse if you want, I am sure he has been called worse things.:D

All kidding aside...I heard Ed Deska got the invite. He's a competitor and I'll be rooting for him to do well. He's got a decent chance to make it out of the round robin stages.

Believe it or not, Ed Deska was visiting Indy last week on business; and made the obligatory pilgrimage to Betmore's Basement (I think Grady made him do it:) ) - I'M NOT KIDDING. We played all evening, and ended up talking pool into the wee hours of the morning (even though he had to get up at 4:30 AM for a flight back).

He is a true student of the game; and was nice enough to examine my game, and offer some suggestions and drills. For others that don't know Ed, he is an aerospace engineer, who has been gambling at pool with the big boys for a very long time. The list of players he has gambled with (and beaten at least once) was VERY impressive - a Who's Who of the great eastern players. His stories were informative and entertaining. You guys are very fortunate to have Ed in your league - if you guys all play like him, it must be a STELLAR league, he stomped me in Maryland, and again here.

After he left Betmore's Basement, he was headed home; but just for a few hours, then he was to go on to Philly the same day for the World 14.1 Qualifier there. I was very worried that our late night session would interfere with his qualifying attempt - I feel MUCH better now, knowing that he is in the tournament. Perhaps I can now take some credit for "warming him up" if he does well.
 
I think that it might be Mika Immonen´s turn to win something big for a change. He is in great shape for what I hear.
 
Thorsten Hohmann. After that, who knows? Is there any chance that Mike Sigel could have a flashback (provided he's playing)? Other than a small handful of players, including John Schmidt, Tony Robles, Danny Harriman and Mike Davis who apparently just ran a 270-something, I have to like the European players since they seem to play more straight pool than the current crop of American players.
 
I can't quite make him a favorite among this field, but I'm glad to see Flaco Rodriguez in there and I hope he has a good tournament. If he's been getting in some time at the table, nobody has to like it playing straights with this gentleman!

Flaco has a very nice 14.1 game, but nowhere near the elite level the top players compete at. He played in the warmup roud robin on sunday at Amsterdam billiards. Last match was against Thorsten race to 100. Flaco breaks, TH runs out from there. I see Flaco on Monday, and joke to him, "I heard you played well, but need some work on your break":eek:

Overall good guy,,, complete with funny stance and all. Excedllent one hand air player.

didn't Jasmin have a 100+ ball run last year? I can't count her out of a high finish, but I think a win is out of the question do to the depth of the men in the field.

I know that is going to get me flamed up a bit but it is true and you know it.
