Topics that lack coverage in instructional videos and books

So what are some topics that lack coverage in pool in terms of instruction on dvd and in print?

I wouldn't say it lacks coverage, but I think there's not enough quality discussion about the stroke in mainstream instructional publications. It seems like most stroke discussions are simplistic and just a rehashing of the basics that have been in print for over 50 years.

Compare pool instruction to golf, where you can't turn around without seeing detailed breakdowns of the swing.

banks, kicking, playing safe, controlling follow and draw, aiming with english, speed control, and non 1984 editing, sound, graphics and film quality.

Anything beyond basic safety play, two-way shots, kick safes

A video of nothing but kick safes would be great. I think one of Kinster's safety tapes had a couple of kick safes..

The 'Stoke' how to build it from SCRATCH

How is it that there can't be a difinitive book and/or video dedicated to the development of the "Stroke"?

Is it that difficult for instructors to put into words or set up the video reference for the training?

Breaking; all games, different objectives for each, different cue ball placements for each, and different techniques for each.

Learning how to win. How to have an accurate self assessment of your playing ability, and how to play within that spectrum to give you the best chance of winning.

Although there are "standard book plays" for ball making and certain position plays, the standard answer is not always the correct answer for every player.

Because this answer varies SO much from person to person, it's never really been taught well through standard training materials.

REp to you..

The thing that is missing most is rules of conduct. After that....What is acceptable behavior in a business. Why tables play different from day to day. The importance of practice drills vs match play. The pros and cons of different cloths. How equipment changes and breaks down over time and how it affects your game and how to adapt. The importance of washing your hands before play...keeping your stick clean...keeping your playing surface clean....basic hygeine maybe. How to properly brush/vaccuum a table. You would not believe the number of people that brush a table in a circular motion, only do the foot of the table and then stare at the funny rolls that happen later in the game.

I would have to say the DIAMOND SYSTEM. I don't want to have a degree in quantum physics to understand it. If somebody could print a version in plain English, that is easy to figure out.
