I will be there for business next week. I have the evenings free (mostly) and this place seems to be with in walking distance.

Has anyone played there recently? It seems that the pool scene is not to bad in the area but without a car I am limited.

Any chance Blue Hog can take me fishing?

While I am there my wife will be just south in Ithaca helping three(YES THREE) of my children prepare for college. One grad student, one Senior and one freshman. I will be back there next spring for a graduation so don't give up hope;)

I play there all the time. It is an upscale room. 9' tables (all but one) Simonis or Championship cloth on all tables. Excellent food and draft selection.

Friendly staff and clientele. You will not get hustled - however, you will also not likely get action. Most people range from amatures to middling league players.

Thanks for the info. I am debating on bringing my cues or not, I am fine with playing off the wall in the pool room but I like to have my equipment back at the room to cuddle with:o
 
There is nothing more that I would like than to take you fishing Buddy.

But, you might have to move your business meeting approx 1600 miles to the west.

Altho he won't admit it, Dom Poppa is from Toronto.

Actually, get a hold of Paul, (PT 109).

If you are staying in the Metro Toronto area, there are a couple of nice halls that Paul has been known to show up at.

I would get a hold of him to get the skinny on which ones will be close for you depending on your location.

Also, that new hall that just opened by Jim Whych may be within reasonable traveling distance.

I'm not so good at distances. The last time that I took a cab ride in Metro Toronto, it cost me $120 return.

I think the house cues are generally around 18 ounce falcon or action cues [I can't remember which]. I think that you'll find some with decent tips, but I must confess I always bring my gear.

Do get in get touch with PT. Paul can stear you to whatever you are looking for, but I'm not sure there is much in the way of players' rooms downtown - rent is too high. I'm also pretty sure Jim Wych's room still isn't open.
 
I thought that was open already. Too bad.

There are 2 in the North York area, right. Also don't know if that is close to downtown Toronto.
I always stayed close to Young St and ventured out from there.

I had already paid for the tickets to watch Shane, Effren, etc to play at one of those a couple of years ago. The year that it was cancelled due to some mishap.

Thats the one that I was thinking of in North York.
 
If you don't bring your cue, just make sure to bring a scuffer.

Makes playing off the wall much better. ;)

any and all the action is in the east end and not downtown

having said that, u might find some action at vip billiards at younge and dundas


house cues will be crap everywhere, might be worth your while to drop $80 on a dufferin
 
Driving is a horror show in the downtown area - all sorts of construction.

If you are using public transportation, getting to places not on the subway can be a major pain.
Perhaps subway + taxi.

Shooters is not on the subway, but has 50+ tables, including 5 snooker tables IIRC, but does not have a web site. In a mall.

Annex Billiards is on Bloor West, east of the Bathurst subway stop - about an even spit between pool and snooker tables if you want to try out a big table. :grin:.

The newest one - The Corner Bank

The Corner Bank will have 8 Shender Snooker tables
Each one will have Hainsworth professional snooker cloth
The Corner Bank will be offering 28 Diamond pool tables
Better call first:D

Projected opening in early mid September at which time the hours will be posted on the site.

Scuffer is A great idea, better then me bringing my cues. I will be in your area in the future and I will let you know:smile:

Great info Scaramouche, BHR has me scared to take a taxi but I would like to play some snooker. Its been years but I grew up on a 6x12.
 
"Crooked cue" in Mississauga is a very good place. Nice tables, good food and great selection of beer including some local Ontario Crafts Beer. And it's just 20 minutes on GO train from downtown Toronto.

I will be spending my days at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and I bet that train passes close by. I will have to check out the trains hours.:cool:

This offer of help is what I have come to expect from our brothers from the north.

I am flying out Saturday morning and after that things get fuzzy. If I can get online I will let you know as soon as I know my schedule.
