Touch of Center

John, are you now that much of an attention whore that you are reduced to following me around offering the same "challenge" over and over again when I have already given you my answer several times? (Most recently a couple of months ago in this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=3981479&postcount=102) Again: I will not be at the SBE, but that does not mean I'm hard to find. Each year I usually go to the DCC, Tunica, and the US One Pocket Open in Vegas.

Now go find someone else to stalk to get your attention fix.

Lou Figueroa

Ok. Well no problem. I am sure we have will see each other somewhere.

Lou. If you need someone to practice with I can meet you at Cue & Cushion on any Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat or Sun.

It would be good for both of us. :)

Just give me a day and time and I will be there.

John

it's difficult to dance to but everyone can find a song they like

I also seem to recall saying 9ball =) I don't think I have the experience to handle anyone playing 1pocket... It's like Jazz to me... Lots of people like it but for me it lacks the rhythm I prefer to dance to.....

Chris

One Pocket is a lot more when you start using the TOI, it allows you to "stun" the ball and get "behind the stack" easier. I think it plays more like "80's Rock and Roll," it's difficult to dance to but everyone can find a song they like. ;)

My suggestion to anyone that doesn't still get it...is to get the video. I already recommended this video to a lot of my local players. It's like adding another valuable weapon to your chest of pool arsenal.

Watched Earl plays yesterday, I can clearly see that he uses TOI for some of his shots. It's such a simple concept that I think a lot good player uses without knowing but quite powerful if and when you start to to see the light. No BS here....just a powerful technique that I'm glad CJ have shared with us.

Thanks,
Duc.

Every good and knowledged player knows this part of the game.
On some shots you need it and it helps- and on some you dont need it.

I agree, shooting with TOI is common knowledge among good players. However, I'd never heard of it being used as a system or complete style of play until CJ's recent posts. I wish more high level players would freely share the way CJ does.

Can you now? You saw a 4 millimeter displacement of his tip on that grainy youtube video? :)

Not trying to knock anything, but, it does bug me that on AZB,
suddenly every major household name champion is being credited with using TOI,
like Earl & Efren. A few years ago we heard they were all using CTE too.

Earl and Efren know what they use, if anything.
The rest of us are just guessing.

There's a very good chance that if you asked earl "did you put a touch of inside on that shot?" he might say "what are you talking about?"

Most likely, he used a little bit of inside English when his position play called for a little bit of inside English. I highly doubt he used it to deflect routine cut shots into the pocket.

Duc, next time ask Earl directly about CJ's TOI, and make sure you record the rant that follows on your phone. Post up the youtube link here.

Earl says he "throws everything in with spin" (outside and inside)

I happen to know that Earl says he "throws everything in with spin" (outside and inside) this is the same concept to create the zone of the 3 Part Pocket System, it just takes more talent and practice.

I use TOI as much or more than anyone, and I've always been thankful for this. We will still beat any top pro if we play long enough by using this system, over time it will wear them down.....they know it, and we know it. As long as the game isn't "all about the break" I will train to play 5 of the top 10 players anytime here in Dallas and I"m sure "Big Truck" or someone will stream it.

I've heard Earl say many times, and I have him on camera in the "Million Dollar Challenge Interview" I did last year saying - "What seperates the Top Champions from the others is their ability to throw the balls in consistently"....does he mean "with TOI".....no, he means the champions create zones by using spin and deflection and that's "the difference that makes the difference"....I do have him answering many of these questions on film (in the can, you will see them in the documentary we're still working on).

Earl knows how valuable these techniques are to hitting that "SuperSonic" pool gear where you can make anything, AND get shape on anything. Especially on the 10 Foot Table.
