Touch Of Inside Mania

Yesterday,Jack Potter calls me out of the blue with so much exciement I have to ask who I am talking to.

Seems CJ Wylie has been showing Jack this TOI stuff and Jack claims he can make any ball from anywhere and they go automatically

So I ask the obvious question "Whats new about that" 45 years ago Jack was giving me the break and the 5 and out.so he never missed before

No,that was nothing compared to this, now Jack says this is the nuts.he can shoot without aiming

Is this going to cost me anything,I ask.
"if you are looking for a stakehorse,I'm not interested" unless of course
you have the nuts,says I

Next he claims he is coming to Dallas to show me how to play as good as him.

I try to explain that I can not even see the edge of the ball."no matter"
I remind him that I never could play.No matter

If i had not known Potter for over 50 years,I would not be listening, but he is claiming TOI has him ready to play again

The funny thing is,I am considering becoming a stakehorse again. Please call for appointment to play Oak Cliff Shorty one more time, before we are both in hospice

9 ball only

Ps if my wife answers the phone, don't mention pool

Its great finding something that makes you always feel on your game!! I read some stuff here and got the pay-per-view but I picked up on it mostly from watching the CJ vs. Mizerak match. I think many good players can pick up on many subtleties in technique going on while observing others. I mainly noticed 2 things. One was how full the contact with the object ball seemed every time, almost regardless of the angle or any spin employed. The second was watching CJ get down on the shot. I could see him getting down as though he was lining up for a thicker hit on the ball than I 'thought' the shot dictated. After watching that it "clicked", I went down to the basement and started shooting lights out. I purchased the pay-per-view and went back and read the threads after that, but it really clicked from watching him play.

I really want to see CJ get into the ring and kick some butt at tourneys now just to prove to others how great this s**t is!!!

Dean,

Your wife is right and you need to trade that Szamboti for a week in pool hustler rehab.

Here's Dream On by Aerosmith - it should have been called Pool Hall Memories...

"Dream On"

Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

Yeah, I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win

Half my life's in books' written pages
Live and learn from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things you do, come back to you

TOI is an interesting subject. Like the Franks hot sauce lady, I put that $#!t on everything..

Last night after the pool hall, I came home to my fiance. She had that look so I decided to find my new found TOI skills. When my balls hit the pocket, I put that TOI twist on it and won the match....

The TOI thing is getting outta hand..

This is a good example of how your vision fools you. What your are seeing is a optical illusion.

First, the impact area of the two balls is always the same size no matter the cut angle. You can not hit 1/2 a ball, nor hit fuller or lesser on the ball. The impact area remains the see. Just because you see hitting fuller or lesser does not mean its real.

Try this......take two balls and place them on the floor, place them touching and while looking directing down at the contact point, rotate around them. The size of the area where they touch doe not change.

Now set them up on a table where you can look at them at 90 degrees to the table. Walk around them, looking at true center ball as you do. Now it does appear that you can hit x amount of ball for x cut angle.

Check the drawings at the bottom.

deanoc: your last sentence MADE MY DAY

with TOI its gonna be like with every other "miracle" on this forum: 2 sides, 1 claiming its "the nuts", and the others.

After the aiming discussion forum we will most likely need an "touch of something" subforum :grin-square:

<= goes to the table and tries to HAMB

The TOI thing is getting outta hand..

Let's just have 1 TOI thread where all posts can be made instead of creating 15 TOI threads! This includes all negative posts, positive posts, instructional posts, endorsement posts, etc. That might make just too much sense though :D.

Oh no, lets make another sub-forum! :p

I feel your pain one and all and am a bit embarrassed to be the cheerleader this time around. But hey, I found something that works, I'm happy about it, and I can't hide it. Sue me. Then give me a sub-forum.

Cool. I love how this optical illusion is working for me!!

No, that is not acceptable. You must be made to realize that is IS an optical illusion, and thus cannot possibly work for you, no matter the results you THINK you are seeing.... c'mon, we're scientists here. Do not dare to try something and think you know enough to make a proper determination as to whether it actually works for you or not. Silly poolplayers.

Sounds like you need one of these......I was just making a suggestion.

If he uses TOi on every shot i will play him  I would even play CJ "even" up if he agree to use TOI on "every shot".The key is getting shape off every shot using it, not gonna happen

Problem with that is CJ has explicitly said he will pivot from his TOI to achieve spin if he needs it. So effectively he would be "using" TOI on every shot.

Keep in mind CJ is not necessarily hitting the cue ball off center. He is hitting stun shots. If he was hitting off center the cue ball would be spinning and spinning is NOT his goal. The physics of an off center do not change because we give it a cool acronym.

But as a person who believes in the magic of the human spirit I believe TOI is helping a lot of folks get pumped about pool and that is all I need to know about it!

p.s. Maybe if you beat him he will let you touch the inside of his wallet!

Dean I laugh reading your posts:grin:
If the late RA posted on here they would resemble your's.
Keep on scufflin,Crazy Jack
