Touch Of Inside Mania

No, that is not acceptable. You must be made to realize that is IS an optical illusion, and thus cannot possibly work for you, no matter the results you THINK you are seeing.... c'mon, we're scientists here. Do not dare to try something and think you know enough to make a proper determination as to whether it actually works for you or not. Silly poolplayers.

Bruce,

If you keep this up, some are going to start calling you a CJ 'nut hugger'.

Keep in mind CJ is not necessarily hitting the cue ball off center. He is hitting stun shots. If he was hitting off center the cue ball would be spinning and spinning is NOT his goal. The physics of an off center do not change because we give it a cool acronym.

But as a person who believes in the magic of the human spirit I believe TOI is helping a lot of folks get pumped about pool and that is all I need to know about it!

Ken

p.s. Maybe if you beat him he will let you touch the inside of his wallet!

Ken,

Agreed about the spin physics, but also keep in mind that CJ is not trying to utilize the bit of spin from hitting a touch off center, but the side effect is that the bit of inside spin counters the outside spin that the cue ball would normally pick up from a cut collision so it, the cue ball, comes off the collison more 'dead' & rebounds without any running spin from off of a rail. That is why he says it just seems to 'float'.

In all of my 46 years of playing I had never intentionally utilized cue ball squirt from off of a non center hit to pocket balls. That process is now forever in my tool box because it works. It is not a placebo. It is a very valuable technique.

Oh no it isn't!

Oh yes it is!

TOI is the ticket.

Thaiger, you just are too stubborn to try it (maybe cause you are too left brained or something), too cheap to buy CJ's CD, and jealous that it works for everyone but you :grin-square:.

At one time I thought you were open minded. I believe that you are just too tiltled towards snooker players and their theories of aiming.

Face it Thaiger - you can't feel. Pool is a feel game. You need to go park yourself over with the PJs and others on the aiming threads.

BTW, I liked the idea of a sub-forum on TOI (just kidding of course). Put all aiming threads back on the main forum and then you won't be seeing TOI every other thread LOL.

I watched the video. I have read the various threads. I have utilized TOI in competition successfully. At no point have I said that TOI is not useful. I am by no means a seasoned professional but I think I have a reasonable grasp of what is being taught.

There is no marketing in the world which can outrun physics.

Cheers!

I've been accused of that, in reference to a few different folks, over the time I've been here.

If it suits me to respond at the time (like now, :p) I counter by pointing out that I merely wish to hear from that particular individual for myself, and to be allowed to make my own conclusions.

I dont agree with everything that anyone says. But I like a lot of what many say.

I enjoy CJ's participation here. I believe he is really trying to help folks. I don't care if he makes a few video sales in the process. Does he occasionally make posts that I don't like, or appreciate, sure. But again, none of us should follow anyone blindly, or accept everything that a person says, "just because". CJ has made the forum a better place, and helped a lot of folks. He's spurred many interesting conversations. He appears to have gotten a few"experienced" folks excited about pool again. He is positive, a rare trait. He is enthusiastic.

Yup. I like him. As much as anyone getting to know someone via a forum can claim, I suppose.

Do I jump right in, and claim that I'm using TOI, or the wrist hammer technique, nope. As he suggested, I "put them on the shelf", to tackle when I'm better prepared to give them the proper attention. Along with other techniques and systems I read about here. But I feel that I'm better for having read about them, and given them some thought. Thats what is so great about this place, so much information at our disposal.

Bruce,

I just meant to point out that you certainly seem to be a well meaning, rational, open minded, individual but honestly speaking your mind could result in name calling by some.
