Toughest call shots

I didn't call it, but could've, every time. Playing 1 pocket, I have closed my eyes on more than one occasion, and cleared balls from my opponent's hole, only to make one in mine. Amazing! Course, I have also made the cue, nothing, an a ball in the opponent's hole too...

I'm also NOT talking about sloppy 9 ball luck shots, we've all had those, I would like to hear about the ones where you had to call both ball and pocket. You know the kind, skill shots where you were hooked or didn't have anything else to try so you lined up a shot and the pool Gods must have been looking down on you with that one. :D

OK, I just want to see what everyone thinks is difficult and to what extent people are willing to try and go for it.

And PLEASE I don't care to hear about how this magical shot won you the tournament or beat some guy out of all his savings, those stories have been posted in other threads.

I'll start it out with one of mine that I made in 8 ball. I know it doesn't look like much, but I was relieved when I made it. I forgot where the 8 and other two stripes were, but I only had three solid balls left. I missed my position on the 5 and left myself in a spot where I could only see the 6 ball and there were no open pockets for it. I looked at hitting the 6 into the 3 and banking it cross corner but the 5 was in the way, so I called the 5.

In recent memory....

The toughest one I've recently called was this:

Layout was pretty similar. I was hooked behind the 8 and no other clear shot, no breakout opportunities, so I played offensively and made this one. These shots are very low percentage!

this is probably the toughest shot I've ever made...tried to stun the 8 and go 3 rails, but stroked it bad and accidently got draw on it and ended up with this. I guess the sane thing to do would be to bank it or play safe...but I'm way too stupid to do something like that.

Made this one a while back. Would hate to put my paycheck on this shot but that was my only possibility. I may miss that shot the next 1000 times..

OK, this one is easy for me. I did it in an 8 ball tournament about a month ago. I had a break and run going, I'm on the hill, but I have one ball that, when I tried to break it out, I put it in more trouble. I actually tried to miss the next to last ball and hang it in a pocket, but didn't call safety (stupid mistake) and made it, so I'm stuck with this.

START(
%AQ2P9%BP6W9%CR6F6%Ds0G0%EQ3O6%Fo4I4%Gr5E8%HJ5H3%Mq4H1%Pe3P5
%RZ7[8%Ur4J5%Ve8P2%Wr7I4%Xs4I9%[[9[0%\m6C2%]n5D2%^q1G3
)END

I looked things over and it was tough to play safe from where I was, so I let my imagination go. I figure "if I kick into this ball, it's going to at least go out in the open, and this guy has a couple of clusters, so maybe I'll get another shot", so I call the ball in the side pocket marked "B", kick at it, lightly so I'll leave an easy shot if the guy misses, and it goes right in the gut and I'm left with this.

%AQ2P9%BP6W9%CR6F6%Ds0G0%EQ3O6%Ff7D8%Gr5E8%HJ5H3%Pb4O0%RZ7[8

)END

My adrenaline is pumping so much, that I almost miss the easy 8 ball, but the pool gods were gracious and after it played war drums on the facings for a half second or so (seemed like 10 minutes), the 8 fell in for the win.

So, it was a called shot, but... did I expect to make it? Hell no! I was just trying to get it out of trouble and in the open and let this guy try to deal with his clusters and win in the next inning, but I called it and I damn sure didn't show any outward signs of surprise when it feel in the side pocket. When I made the 8, I just stood up after it rattled, then fell and said "Can you believe the same guy shot both of those shots?" Everybody laughed, except the guy that I was playing next.

Sorry Im retarded with the table layout diagram, plus I cant see anyone elses... so here is one of the best Ive called and made.
I hooked myself good one ball before the eight; the ball I had to hit was a couple of inchs from the side pocket, and I had to kick to hit it.
Instead of calling it in the side pocket it was next to, I called the opposite side, because the way I had to hit it, looked like it was going to bank. So I played it, one rail kick, to one rail bank clean in the side. The whole bar went crazy, everyone likes watching the games I play in hopes I screw up; I always have the entire establishment cheering for my opponents when they make any shot, no matter how crappy thier shape ends up.
Im also proud to make a few wing shots on a 12' english billiards table; with the rounded pockets and all I made a wing shot the first time I tried it. What a sound and feeling that is!

...
At nine ball, the one ball stopped on the head spot and the cue ball stopped on the headstring about an inch from the one ball. Nothing to shoot at, and no good safety. The nine ball was on the side rail about a diamond from a foot pocket. I played the nearly-full masse shot from the one to the nine and made it.

5ahead... sounds like a great shot, but let's fix your problem with not being able to see the WEI tables. To see them, you must go to this site WEI Table. It will open a pool table diagram. When you want to view someone elses shot, just highlight and copy everything from [Start] to [End], then when your on the WEI table sight, just click on Paste and it will show the shot they diagrammed. When you want to show a shot, then go to the WEI table, move the balls where you want them, just drag and drop the arrows, lines, letters, etc, and click on "Copy", then when you come back to AZB, just "Paste" them into your message by either clicking on "Edit" then "Paste" in the menu, or by just pressing "CTRL" and "V" at the same time.

Now that you know how... diagram this shot for us!

Had this many years ago and I still hear about it because it was for an important match.
Jumped the cue into the 2 so it would jump over the 15 and it slammed into the hole on the fly. The cue jumped around and landed with perfect shape on the 7 and I got out. This was last pocket 8-ball...sorry but it won the city with that out....the only real reason I even went for it was because we would have lost if they made 1 more ball and safeties were frowned on....big time.

In recent days, this would have to be it. A big cue ball masse/kick is never a hig percentage shot. It was good for a(nother) Maker's and Diet though :D

Lots of concentration required, nice shot.

This was about 10 months ago so the actual positions of his stripes are close to whats diagrammed. Didn't expect it to go. I caromed the 1 ball off the 14 and called the side pocket. I really wanted the ball at least be in the area around the jaws if I missed so it rolled in very slowly. With this stop shot I was able to run the rack out.

Thats a pretty cool table... :) Here's mine, I was playing a friendly game and mentally called this to the other corner, but this worked out nicely.

The other balls positions don't really have any precedence, but basically that was the only shot I had.

8 in the side

sometimes you have little choice but get creative;
This shot was in a league match, I was playing pretty sporty, and finished the 4th or 5th game with this 8ball. Pretty much stated how the match was going to end up. Probably played 8 or 9 games in that match. Fun when they work, I'm sure I wouldn't make it 1 out of 20.

You gonna post the shot? :p

Basically about a week ago, ran out and missed the eight in the corner sending it to the middle along the short rail.

opponent plays safe, blocking all natural kick shots and double rail shots.(I am not sure of the table layout, but I know he had 6/7 on the table and that all kick shots were blocked sans major english, and that he was left near frozen I think that is why he played safe(he is A+ player, I forget his leave but if he could have ran out, he would have)

So I have to put extreme natural english and kick the eight, so to be safe I called the pocket, and what do you know it hit exactly right to go right in!!!!!
