Tour card qualifier

Just wanted to let everybody know, I just got a call from Aaron at the IPT. He wanted information on a friend of mine, Glenn Atwell, that qualified for the tour card qualifier, at the Wynn Casino later on in the year. He needed the information so he could have it for the motel and flight [expenses paid]. He told me the IPT was caught in the middle of a rock and a hard place about paying players.

I know we havn't been paid from Reno, and I could certainly use the cash, but I'm still completely confident the tour will proceed to Chicago, and to Vegas in December.

This is my opinion, I think the players not entering the tour card qualifiers while the participation is low are making a mistake by not entering the qualifiers, and I think they will regret not doing it now. As soon as we get paid from Reno, the qualifiers will start filling up and it will be much harder to win a spot.

Interesting that they're still going with the "We're playing at the Wynn" story. Last I heard, someone very high up the food chain at the IPT didn't know where they would be holding that event for sure. Fairly well known that Ho & Wynn don't like each other.

You're right about the fact that the qualifiers are easier to win these days and if the tour proceeds, they will again be tougher to win. Not a lot of people have $2000 lying around as expendable income. Entering the qualifiers is more of a gamble now than they ever were. In the past at least they played in a tournament where they stood a chance to win a spot in a tournament. Now there's a chance that the tournament won't happen and they might as well have walked up to a stranger and simply handed the stranger $2000. At this point, entering a qualifier is straight up gambling IMO.

Mike, I sincerely hope you and the others get paid. There are many out there that are struggling without that money. Even better would be to see the tour continue.

At this point in time with Deno, Lindsay, & now KT giving nothing but empty promises of payment, you can't blame people for not spending $2000 to sign up for the qualifiers. ;)

Hi Mike. Could you elaborate on what you thought Aaron meant by this? I don't see how a statement like that could be taken as anything but bad news by the players, so perhaps your paraphrase is changing the connotation?

As with Timberly, I also hope you all get the money you deserve.

I assume that they need the information so that they could book the room and the flight for Glenn and that this would be a good sign that the tour card tournament would be played, whether at the Wynn or not. That's why I mentioned the tour card qualifiers, because now is a good time to qualify.

I also think he meant that he has been put in a position between a rock and a hard place, because they don't know what is going on either. He and the staff represents the IPT, and they are having to try to answer questions they don't know the answer to.

And, as Hymen Roth (Godfather movie) would reply: 'And what does that tell you?"

I'm trying!!

I don't blame the players for being optimistic, coz that's all they can do. It's
hard for them to see the writing on the wall, specially if they are waiting for
something of value...

A post on a uk site from daryl peach

I have been paid for the first event in Vegas and i asked them to hold my cheque until i took care of my Int tax No.

I think everyone should calm down and see what happens.

Thought i should just add.....a friend of mine has qualified for the Main tourcard qualifier in Vegas at the end of the year and the IPT has paid for his flight and hotel already.

It tells me that the IPT has some real bad internal problems and that "they can lose". Think that I"ll be looking for a new Consiglieri.

They can pay for the flights and hotels and can't pay us?

Did they book his room at the Wynn? Has it for sure been booked or did they just say they needed his info to do it?

Hearsay your honor. lol

darryl, like other european players, asked the ipt to hold his winnings so he could straighten out his tax id number. The only difference here is that the other players asked the same thing after the vegas event, and all the players except one changed their minds and asked and received immediate payment for vegas. Marcus is still waiting for vegas payment.

Just because darryl asked to hold off on reno, doesn't mean he will get paid if he changes his mind. On the contrary, at that point, he will be in the same boat as all the others, waiting and getting the run around.
