Tournament Considerations for 2012.

I'm just putting together a list of tournaments that I may want to consider going to for various reasons.

I really would prefer to go to some more amateur events where I have a chance of cashing. The One pocket events have always been a favorite of mine and I will continue to love those events but I think I want to visit some other tournaments.

If you have a tournament that you think I might like to play in, please list the event here. I don't know how many events I will make in 2012 but I like playing in events where there are LOTS of players and where I have a chance to cash and have some fun. It would be nice to mix it up with other bangers like myself, instead of just taking that constant flagellation from the pros. :D

Joey,

If you have the chance, make one of the Shooters tournaments in Olathe. They run the 1 pocket starting Thursday night at 8pm and the 9 ball on Friday at 8pm.

They have the tournament 3 times a year. Sometime in Jan/Feb, then in July, and then in Oct/Nov. The dates are usually dependent on other tournaments in the area. Check Evelyn's website http://www.9balltour.com/ for more info.

All the tournaments have excellent turnout and calcutta's.

Joss and Predator Tour biggies

Hi Joey:

I think you should add Turning Stone to your list, as well as possibly the "Maine Event," "Ocean State 9-Ball Championship," and "3rd Annual N.E. Pool & Billiard Hall of Fame 9-Ball Open" (this latter one sounds like Tom McGonagle's doing ;) ):

http://joss9balltour.com/schedule.asp

Additionally, Tony Robles' Predator / Seminole tours' Empire State Championships is always a great event -- to play in, as well as to watch:

http://predator9balltour.com/schedule.asp
(The 2012 schedule is not up yet, but I'm sure will be posted after the last tour stop #15 in Dec. finishes.)

I plan to attend (if not outright play) in these, if I can finagle it into my work schedule.

Hope to see you on the tour trail!

hey Joey A,

The Jay Swanson Memorial is $4,000 added (with a full field of 192 - which it has filled up almost every year. Turned away 40 people last year)

Also look a the US Bar Table Championship in Reno Feb. 13-19, 2012. At Grand Sierra Hotel ($39/$49 room rates!!!) Also 16 big tables available.
Here is link: http://www.playbca.com/Events/2012USBarTableChampionships.aspx

Darryl, I didn't realize that the Shooter's tournament was three times a year. THANKS!

EXCELLENT! Hope to see you next year.

Mark, how do i enter these 2 events?...

Thanks Lee

"Coach", don't forget my "jelly". :D

Not sure which, if any, covers your area, but you could also take a look at the tournament listings in one of the three publications at onthebreaknews.com. There may even be a mid-sized tournament close to one of the others you end up going to, to make a convenient two-fer.

How many 9 foot tables do they have? How many bar tables? What time does the tournament matches end each day? (especially on Sunday). No green fee, correct? No added money except maybe $500 if 128 person field is filled??
thanks,

Lee:

Go to www.playbca.com - the events will be shown on the rotating banners in the page. They both have registration pages so you can sign up on line.

Mark:

How does one click on a rotating banner? Do you have to wait for it to be right-side-up before clicking on it, or will it work even if I click on it while it's upside-down?

Also, should I wait for your site to be custom rewritten from the ground up (including making your own servers from scratch, per the "trust me" recommendation from "Jasen") such that the banner is much more useful?

-Sean <-- trying his damdest to hold a straight face :p

Awww Joey !!

You are just the best !! You start the best threads with useful info while others are busy bashing and tearing down good ol Joey A chimes in with something we all can benefit from and that is good for the sport as a whole.
I can't give ya any more rep so I had to blow smoke this way .

thanks,

i play league in there occasionaly and have never paid attention to how many 9s or barboxes they have.

i will get the info you are asking for and get back to you in a couple days.

hope to see you there. i dont play on the 9 footers much but i will probably donate to the cause in the mini tournaments on the bar boxes.

Joey,

If you miss another Turning Stone event, you'll be sorry. One of the best run events on the East Coast. Best of all, if you cash, you get cash placed in your hand by Mike Zuglan. Personally. The field is full of excellent relatively unknown players as well as most of the top pro's. The venue is absolutely top shelf. Your friends and relatives can watch the event for free. The crew from Diamond do a great job setting the sixteen tables up. Only problem is no where to practice on location between rounds. Best of all, I can finally meet an AZ legend I've only read about!!!

Lyn

PS Mark G. I'll see you on the 4th of December in Vegas.

I had to add in another event that has been going on a while.

It's the one in North Dakota at the 4 Bears Casino. April 19-22, 2012.

$16,ooo.00 ADDE MONEY..... whew....................

I would play in 9-ball or 10-ball bar box events with under 4 1/2" pockets, Ridgeback rail if not a Diamond table, and "A" and "B" handycap...and the nice TD making me a "B". Johnnyt

The "B" is obviously for BAD. (Better than being an "A") :D

I added some more events to the first post.

Tourneys

Joey ... Actually, any of the Midwest 9 ball tour events are good to play in
(the tournament at Olathe is just one of their events). Most are $2,500 to
$5,000 added tourneys played on Bar Tables. Go to http://www.9balltour.com

The $2,000 added event listed on the website is Shooter's annual Thanksgiving tourney, $20 entry, 128 players, handicapped 9 ball was won again by Shane McMinn, Glen Atwell took 2nd, our own George Trujillo took 3rd. Glen Atwell is still around here trying to line up money games. I played his running partner, Sam Cole, the other night.

There are also some good tournaments played at Jamaica Joes in Oklahoma City, and tournaments at Magoos in Tulsa.
