Transaction warning

With all the bad juju floating around here regarding transactions lately, I just wanted to relate my recent experience.

I found a higher end mass-produced cue over in the buy/sell forum. I contacted the seller and arranged on a price and then asked if I could use a personal check rather than paypal as I dont like that service's stranglehold on the online money transfer market. He said that a check was OK and he would wait until it cleared and then send the cue.

After a couple days, I inquired about the staus of my order and the seller informed me that the he had just received the check and that as soon as it cleared, the cue would go out. A couple days later, I got a message from the seller stating that the check had cleared and the the cue would go out on the next day. A few days later the cue showed up on my doorstep, as billled.

So, I guess the moral of the story is that one can have an easy and equitable transaction through this board. Thanks Chris (9ball101)

Although he did completely rob of me of the opportunity to create a drama filled thread about shady characters and stolen money/merchandise.:grin-square:

Thanks Bruce

Hey Bruce, thanks for the smooth transaction and the kind words in the forum. Yeah, there are good people on this forum. Many of them!!!! I have personally met some, and I have had good transactions with others. Here's to the good guys.

WTF is this AZB WOrld coming to???

Someone received your $$ for a cue and the ACTUALLY sent it to you??

Wow... that's just crazy.....:)

AZ and purchase

I have purchased a couple of items from members and they were very good experiences. it is too bad that a couple of bad transactions get most of the press.

Us postal money order!

I have always used a US Postal Money Order for all my online purchases and have only had one issue. That thief ended up in prison in Lake County Il with the help of the US Post Office and the investigative officers in Mundelien Il. If a vendor does not accept them I am out of there and doing business elsewhere. Paypal has sucked since EBay bought them. When I buy at E bay I simply contact the seller and ask if they will accept one and if they agree then I bid or buy the item. E bay did not like this at first but screw them. I also do not do any international purchases due to the issues with possible returns and such. JMO and how I do business...

I had a great experience with seller osohappie, bought an its george case it came in a week to canada, cheers for this azber thanx Mike young...

Hold the phone. Stop the presses. You mean to stand there and tell me and anybody else who happens to be tuning in that a deal went right? Where in the hell is a moderator when you need one?
Taking your personal check and then promptly sending you the merchandise. Why, that guy shows more guts than a run over cat. :)

Not what I expected after clicking the thread, props to Chris for his good business sense and props to you for recognizing him for it! :)

You have my sympathy, berko, as I recently had a similar experience here. I offered to send a personal check to save the seller some bucks. As soon as my check cleared, he had the nerve to send the cue immediately. As if that wasn't enough to put up with, when I opened the box, I discovered that the "slightly used" cue was, in fact, like new! Even the shaft that had been used was in nearly pristine condition. Then, to make matters worse, he had included a beautiful set of Jim Baxter joint protectors - for my waiting for the check to clear, he said. So, if anyone ever thinks about doing business with Shapechaser... well, you have been warned.;)

glad to hear that, but why exactly are you not using paypal, the transaction of the money would be faster than the check, i've been there before, a check will take time on the Mail, and after that the guy has to go to the bank, and would take more days to clear, but paypal is instant paypal to his Email account, so he already got the money in there.

Well for one paypal charges a fee and also if a seller doesn't send you your merchandise they will not refund you your money. They do not protect the buyer. If the seller doesn't send you your merchandise you are out of luck.

asbani,
If your question is directed to me, I offered to send a check to save the man some money, just as I said in my post. I was in no hurry.

I hope everyone understands that my post was a description of a very satisfying transaction, just written in a manner to continue with the sometimes humorous tone of the thread.
