Traveling the country

If anyone is retired with nothing better to do than travel around to tournaments and sponsor me I'm looking for a mentor. I would even be willing to take zero percent of all earnings for the first year so long as my expenses are taken care of

You any good? A few months ago you were a 4 according to a thread you made....

How do you define good? I can beat the five ball ghost consistently. I can also beat all c players in an even race consistently. I can beat b players over fifty percent of the time. I however am not a top b player yet I am still working on my game. I do extremely well in jack and Jill tournaments, Weekly bar tournaments, handicapped tournaments, and also in women's qualifiers.

You can beat all c players and 50% of b players as a 4?

Either you are severely underhandicapped or your area defines things a little differently. In my area most b players are 7 rated in league and most c players are at least a 5 at the lowest. If you are a strong c player you should be rated as a 6 usually.

I'm not trying to talk crap I'm just curious if you are good or not.

I think Gene Albrecht might be able to mentor you. Not sure if he still hits the road anymore.

LSJ, ducks quickly :)

Different places have different ratings. In two of our in house leagues I'm an 8 in call pocket ball in hand take what you make eight ball. In Oklahoma state ratings I'm a strong 6 speed. In Arizona state rankings I'm a 5 but I haven't been there in over a year now. In virginia beach I'm a B+. In michigan I'm a B. In Texas I'm a BB in their nine ball league. In the GSBT im a 4 as of last November (same rating as Asia from Raleigh area). In Kenny's scotch doubles Missouri eight I'm a strong 5 speed. On Monday night league I'm a non-rated 4 but my handicap will go up once I actually shoot.

So you can beat the 5 ball ghost but not the 6 ball ghost? You think anyone is crazy enough to throw money away by fulfilling your dream not theirs? I know every pool player at one point thinks hitting the road is fun, but when you can't even beat all players locally on a regular basis why do you still dream that you're good at pool? You have much more self reflection to be doing before anyone will take you seriously. Everyone here on AZB is tired of hearing about how "good" you are and your dreams of being a road player.

Do you believe that your dreams take precedent over other peoples dreams? Imagine if everyone on this forum started posting their dreams of being a road player like you. Imagine how little respect this board would have then. Your dreams should stay where they are made, in your head. You lack the basic understanding of how to play pool. It's why you struggle to beat the 5 ball ghost.

I do have one concern though. Why do you come to AZB to express your words. Do local people not want to hear you talk anymore? Burning many bridges?

I see what you did there.

Gene might be willing to Go All In. Jack it and Back it so to speak.

I'm playing in a Blind Draw Scotch Tourney tonight.

Entry fee is 20 large so I better be on my toes.

I may do a little side betting for maybe a 5 or so.

Have to check the Bank Roll.

I would even be willing to take zero percent of all earnings for the first year so long as my expenses are taken care of.

Rhea, this statement sounds either desperate or your confidence level is way down.

Nothing from nothing equals nothing.

In POOL, it doesn't matter how good you play, as much as it matters how good you MATCH UP!

And last but sure not lease, it matters how good you gamble!

I don't know this can be answered properly. Unless a person is seriously loaded and likes to toss money around, most retired folks are happy to sponsor themselves for all things Bucket List.

For those that may consider being a Steak Horse, they would most likely be looking for someone that can bring some value for their investment.

Something that you have proven time and time again, that you don't and probably won't ever have the ability to do.

Considering that you have never accepted anyone's advice on this Forum, doing it the old fashioned way would be out of the question as you would rather have someone else give, and you take.

Being a compulsive gambler, you want to play high stakes with zero risk in it for yourself.

I know it sounds harsh but the truth is the truth.

Good try tho.

Are you really that out of touch with reality that you think somebody might actually do this (rhetorical question because I already know the answer)?

The question you have to ask yourself is what would somebody else be getting out of this that would make them want to support you and pay all your bills and living expenses and also provide your gambling bankroll which would certainly be a massive losing financial proposition for them. So why would somebody want to spend all that money on you and invest all that time in you? I can't think of anything either.

Out of the goodness of their heart you say? Like a charitable contribution type thing? Well true enough, people do help support other people's dreams sometimes, even when it will cost them a lot of money. But there is almost always a compelling reason that motivates them to do it. Like the person is exceptionally talented. Or the person is such a good and likable person with such a good heart that it makes other people want to do things for them. Or sometimes it is the sympathy factor where people just feel sorry for them for various reasons and want to help them out.

So what is it about you as a person that would make someone want to help you out out of the goodness of their heart? You aren't loaded with talent. You don't seem to be an exceptionally likable and good hearted person that people just can't help but to want to throw money at. You aren't going to get the sympathy help because people don't tend to feel sorry for people who have created their own problems (and that aren't even trying to help themselves on top of it). I'm really not trying to be mean but why on earth would you think that somebody else would want to spend a lot of time and money on you so you could enjoy a massive free ride/handouts for nothing in return?

Again, I'm really not trying to be mean but you need a massive reality check and wake up call.

O percent of 0 is 0.

If you aren't able to beat everybody within 3 states of you then you will go broke on the road. There isn't enough money to be won.

As a female you can cherry pick some easy matchup with weak male players but your game has to be better.

At the level you describe you probably lose as many games with errors as you win. If somebody you play has a 35 percent break and run average how would you ever beat them?

You are doing things backwards:
First you reel in the guy - then you demand "Money me".
