Jimmy was a great guy. I didn't know he was sick. I'll say a prayer for his family and friends. He was definitely one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
 
unfortunately, I have to add my own father to this list.

He was murdered this summer by an incompetent doctor.

The moral to this story: always say your "I love you's" when you have the chance, tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Nice post Blackjack. We should always remember our fallen friends. Though there will always be pool players we don't like for various reasons, we should remember they are related to each of us thru a love for this game. May they all rest in peace.
 
It only seems recently but it might be longer. But we cant forget Hollywood Jack. One of the great all time action guys in LA.
He once got a guy to give him 2 to 1 odds on a coin toss. Smooth.

I missed this thread while i was in the Philippines. I really liked Steve as well.He was an easy going guy, kind of a Swanee type pool player. Low key, never barked at anyone, but would jump right up if challenged.

Steve was that high level "shortstop" (and I hate to use that term here), who terrorized many road men. You had better bring your "A" game if you were gonna tangle with this guy. He was armed and dangerous when it came to pool.

While in SoCal, he was considered one of the best players. As I'm sure he was wherever he went. Please don't confuse him with the other Steve Knight from England, another jam up player, probably the best Brit to ever come over here and hustle. I think these two actually met and played in Denver.

The Steve from England told me he met a guy with the same name and asked if I knew him. I said sure and asked him how he did against him. He told me he was stuck for a long time but got even and quit. The England Steve was a guy who bar-b-qued almost everyone he played on his trips over here. He made big scores in Florida and Hawaii.

RIP to all those mentioned.

Especially John Morton from me. We spoke on the phone often and I had plans to get him to Boston for a Red Sox game. He said it was one of a handful he wanted to see. Hopefully his wife has the pictures I sent him from last summer.

I will comment on a few that I knew personally - please feel free to add anybody I may have missed.

I was close to Joe Calnan (Daytona Joe) and I will miss his friendsip, his indness, and his love for life. He was big guy with a big heart and a genuine love for people. I know that he and Chris Cass (Aiardo) are up there having a great time.

I had many wars with Kyle Tafoya in many tournaments in the southwest. He was a great guy and a great player who would go to any lengths to play or get to and from tournaments. He is one of those guys that always made you smile and laugh. He was a joy to spend time with, a joy to play, a joy to watch play, and I will miss him more than anyone on this list.

Rude Dog was a valued member of this forum, a good guy, and one hell of a pool player. His passing was a complete shock to me. Too young. He had a alot of ups and downs in life, but I am glad to have been part of his trip to the US Open a few years ago, courtesy of this forum. John had a great time, and he was so grateful for that opportunity. Just a great guy.

Was the British Steve Knight the guy we called "English Steve" who lived in Co Springs for a few years? I knew the American Steve Knight pretty well, but never knew "English Steve's" last name.

For me, the losses hit so hard. Rude Dog's death came while we were in vegas for the BCA. I spoke and emailed regularly with him, as Koop did. I still think of him and wonder how his family is doing. His death was part of why I took a rest from the forums this past summer.

Daytona Joe as most of you know was a big part of The Windy City Open. It was an extreemly sad time for us this year, and due to his death, it almost cancelled the event this year. I miss Joe terribly, as do so many others.

Chris Cass was a 30+ year friend of my husband Bob. His passing several years ago is still as fresh as it was then. he was a genuine great friend, and I can honestly feel that ccb is not the same without him.

Now I see that Herb Wlmont and Kyle Tafoya are on the list as well.


May they all rest in peace. Thanks David for the special memories of these dear loved people.

I hear ya Eydie. I don't post nearly as much since John has left us. There was just something fun about him that can't be replaced.

Steve Knight from England never spent more than a few months over here at a time. The American Steve Knight lived in Colorado for several years. Maybe it was him.

No, it was definitely not the American Steve Knight. I knew him very well. There was a player in Co. Springs for a year or two who we called English Steve and he played on par with Bill Meacham. Then he left again.
