trying to make a list of custom cuemakers that offer their own

the dominiak shafts aren't low deflection, i've had one. it's just a solid shaft, with a pretty standard ferrule design. yes, it's laminated, but lamination have nothing to do with deflection.

Hi, Gary.

I've never had a Dominiak shaft; so, I'm just going by the description on their website. The Dominator II is described, in part, as follows:

Unlike our competitors' shafts the Dominator D2 shaft does not have hollow sections. Combine this with a newly redesigned melamine ferrule and a Kamui layered tip - the result is a solid hitting, low deflection shaft with exceptional feedback.

I guess I'm left wondering what the exact definition of a LD shaft is.

Mikkelsen has the best LD shaft i have ever played with, I have pretty much tried them all. (production ones) I use his Bmxtreme 2, It is a BEM for a more solid hit. He has 1,2,3,4 for diffrent styles of play and tip size, The 2 that i play with is for around 11.75 to 12.25 i believe.
Shurtz also has a laminated LD shaft, It plays decent.

Bob Dzuricky, his website is freaking great. I know nothing about how his cues play, though.

yeah, LD is a term thrown about pretty loosely these days. I think a lot of people market laminated shafts as LD shafts, either out of ignorance or just trying to pull the wool over people eyes. the D2 isn't a bad shaft, but it's not really LD as there's nothing really in the design to lower the end mass of the shaft.

I totally forgot about Bob Dzuricky, thanks to the previous poster for remembering. I really should have remembered as that shaft in the picture being made is mine! Very nice shaft BTW. The deflection is lower than a regular shaft, but not in the range of a pred. Boring out the shaft helps reduce end weight ala predator, but the carbon fiber tube adds back some of that. It does stiffen up the shaft nicely, so you can have a long taper if you like and have the shaft be stiff. the pic has a mason's micarta ferrule, but that was short lived as it was translucent and looked really ugly over the black tube. I had Bob change it to elforyn. Shaft hits really nice, much better hit than a pred.
