Turning Stone

the racking bs is endemic to the tournament as a whole. i don't think jayson is extreme, but you'll notice him more since he tends to be the one breaking with winner breaks. surely this wasn't the vision zuglan once had.. i mean loser racks is supposed to showcase trust. this is the opposite.
See my thoughts about him in this thread.

Shaw’ making his opponents re-rack over and over is sharking as far as I’m concerned. I lost a lot of respect for him. I don’t care how “professional“ he thinks he is the jerk came out.
What happens if the opponent refuses after doing it two or three times?

I've said this before... . There are many experienced pool players in the audience watching. Why not let them get involved? Use about a dozen of these spectators for racking duties, pre approved of course. Free admission could be offered for payment. I would do it.

I also do not understand why they can’t have a ref rack the balls in the last few games of a tournament instead.
Yep. Ref rack should be mandatory for tournaments.
Winner rack is already bad enough. But loser rack is just dumb as it creates unnecessary conflict and friction between opponents. There is reason why loser rack rarely used in tournaments.

this. but ref rack needs either a bigger budget or more enthusiasts willing to take the heat. especially in the US. template and RYO i think is the easiest solution if refs are hard to come by.

I don’t understand why they didn’t tell Shaw to either hit em or call a ref. Is there something compelling them to rerack over and over?

They just need to get refs the size of pro wrestlers. hell, why not just use pro wrestlers, give them free advertising. If anybody complains about the rack they get to bust heads.

It was very helpful to see Jason Shaw in the interview after the match. This was asked of him and he addressed it well. He said that BOTH players agreed before the match to give each other the best rack possible and to rack according to the other person's request as far as placement etc... He said Mills was having trouble spotting the rack where Shaw wanted it, and was fine with the re racks. They BOTH wanted to be fair and Jason would have re racked as many times as Mills would have asked as well. I thought it was a clear answer and covered the agreement between the two players.

That said, I would prefer a template rack, but I do NOT believe Shaw was sharking based on that interview.

Donny Mills is a great guy. I’m 100 percent sure he was doing his best to give the best rack possible

a ref should be racking. I never liked shaw. He seems arrogant and stuck up.

In the previous set, Mills played really well against Mika. I don’t think either player asked for a rerack.

Even if racking was completely automated, there would be re racks. Bowling is a good example. Pinsetters dont get it right every time either.

There will always be bitchers, whiners, and/or cheaters in this game. If you all remember correctly, Shaw was bitching when SVB was racking his own.

Template rack is the way to go, regardless if it is perceived to make the break easier or not.

I don't want a rack mechanic racking for me, or themselves.
You're darn tootin I'm inspecting the rack.
It's not funsies pool they are playing.

Earl punching the air and more drama all in one two minute unedited video.
Drug testing Earle would be interesting. Erratic behavior and jibberish are either chemically induced or he’s got an emotional issue that requires treatmen/therapy. It’s not showmanship. Reminds me of McEnroe in tennis without the money or the fame.
