Yeah, pretty decent field. I'm driving up there tomorrow.

The best thing about Turning Stone is the hotel itself. It's the best hotel to which my pool travels take me.

John Morra is there as well, 793.

I know in the past, Turning Stone became a WNT ranking event. Does that still hold true today?

We're heading up on Saturday. Looking forward to it.
I read somewhere that Mike was able to secure the venue for the January 2027 event as well, so good until then.

I think Sossei has been playing the best pool of his life the last year or two.

Seems like the proportion of pros has decreased dramatically from ~15 years ago.
Schedules have changed a ton in last few yrs plus this place is kinda semi remote/arctic. I have to make a comment about the stream: i know its a regional tour but 'trying' to watch two 650FR's shoot balls into the rail is brutal. I know its free and all that but if they want more viewers they have to put the best match available on the stream.

I had rather watch that than two >700 players walking around the table and air stroking for five minutes before each shot.

Been that way for at least five years now, if not longer. It is the same comments every time. It is a regional tour championship with a couple of pros added in. There is always the question of if many can even get in given how far in advance the event supposedly fills up. Then you got the number of pros who say they don't like how the tournament is run nor the rule set. Then you will get the same comments on here from the same guys in response who will go how the great Zug is old school and can do WTF he wants. And back and forth, and on and on.

I don't bother tuning in until the third day as the field is weak for what I want to watch.

FYI, all the tables being streamed free:

I just scanned the field and there were about a dozen players whose name i knew. Lot of local/JossTour guys which is cool but this event has lost a lot of its former luster. The schedule timing and location has lot to do with it. Verona NY in the middle of winter is not a vacation spot. Its basically a regional event with a few 'real' pros in it. That being said i wish Al would schedule better players for the stream. I'm sure he's aiming at the tour regular folks and that's cool but some of the matches are pretty lame. Its free i get it.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Al picks the stream matches. I think Zuglan does.

Not much of a choice i agree. At least its free and the commentary can range from pretty good to WTF. Never know what topic is on for today. A few yrs ago they spent half a match talking about boat trialer tires.
I've been asked to get on the stream before. You are all welcome to have dodged that bullet.
