U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

I haven't read this entire thread.

What kind of cloth were they playing on?

And what was the color?

And I assume that was a Diamond ProAm built with drop pockets vs a ball return. Correct?

I was unimpressed with Rogan. He voiced his unfiltered opinions, yes, but he added very little of substance or entertainment value. And "very little" might be overstating it.

If he wasn't as well known as he is, people would be laughing the amateur pool commentator hack out of the booth.
Rogan is definitely a very positive person for pool. Is he good at commentary.... no I would say he isnt polished but at least hes a player and a student of the game.

He knows the players and the championships they have won. He understands jargon and pattern recognition which is very impressive to his NON Players fans on his podcast platform with MILLIONS of followers ever cast.

Would really like to see him have FSR on the show to have a proper discussion on this huge event. How he feels about Matchroom, the promotions and possibly ideas for the future.

Not to throw mud but its this kind of negative energy that drains the life our of everything. Most importantly this beautiful game we all love. Maybe step back and look at the bigger picture amd not rip someone down because he isnt Jim Wych.

Strange comment. In essence you are saying “if he was an unknown amateur pool enthusiast, it would be weird to have him in the booth at the US Open finals”.

I mean, sure. But he’s not unknown and the point is he’s not there for you, or me, on anyone who would be watching the WNT broadcast anyway.

He’s there for people watching on ESPN2, and people who might see clips on YouTube etc, who will say “I know Joe Rogan. He loves this sport. Maybe I will watch some”.

I also suspect he will talk about the US Open on his podcast that gets millions of viewers.

It’s like pool players who would complain that they prefer Grady and Billy on Accu-Stats telling road stories or going into minutiae on the game rather than the way WNT presents the game. I love them too, but it’s just different audiences and viewers on Sky Sports or ESPN need different things.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rogan's 2hr podcasts when he interviewed FedorX2 and JJ. I've enjoyed a few other guests on topics I know nothing about, because he does his podcast/interview job superbly well.

I hope he helps creates more visibility for pool. I, too, would love for him to have FSR on his show.

I also found him annoying and in the way in the booth for the US Open, wishing he would just stfu. He was entirely out of place.

You've helped prove my point that if he wasn't famous no one would care. You just point to his millions of fans and the fact that he knows player names and basic patterns. Roe Jogan who did the job he did would be roasted mercilessly here.

I hope the powers that be find a way to leverage his notoriety without subjecting us to his spiritual and amateurish takes on professional pool.

He was stepping on the remarks of JJ and Karl, but I didn’t care. I knew he would only be on the broadcast a short while. By the end, he was talking less.

In any case … back to the actual match for me. That’s where my focus is. Tight, tense affair. FSR held it together a hair more than Capito. So many pivotal moments that changed the momentum of the match, none more so than Robbie’s carom miss.

Wow congrats to FSR.

That felt like the FINALS!!

He even did the fakeout jump on the table after the win because of how much the crowd was cheering.
Wow FSR foreshadowed his own win by pretending to jump on the table after beating Filler.

It's at the end of this video if anyone missed it, pretty funny stuff. I timestamped it but it's at the 36:15 mark.

I lost 20 on capito.

There was probably a ton of security because they like to shoot people in Texas

Do we have to put el Ferrari in the HOF now?

Rogan wasn't terrible commentating on the filler far match., I didn't expect him to be back in the booth again. He won't save pool. You all have been saying that for you 2 years now.

Was nice to see pool back on espn

I appreciate his love of the game but that doesn't mean it's appropriate for him to commentating throughout the duration of the match.

Especially given that he's a polarizing figure
My political opinions are about 170 degrees the opposite of Rogan's, but that doesn't mean I can't respect his love of and respect for pool. Not everything has to have politics dragged into it.

I have no knowledge of this, but I would not be shocked if having Rogan lined up to do commentary on the finals helped to get ESPN to agree to this.

2x US Open 9ball titles
1x World 9ball title
1 x World Cup of Pool (w/ Alcaide)
1x World 8ball title
1x DCC 9ball
1x World Junior 9ball title
3x Mosconi Cup titles (66.7% match win rate)

I'd say he qualifies. He just did it in a much shorter span of time rather than throughout his tenured career.

FSR doesn’t have the volume of wins you would expect from a hall of famer but the quality of his victories is obviously top shelf. Kind of like a Brooks Koepka who performs best in the toughest situations and can seem mediocre otherwise.

FSR’s only win since 2024 listed on Wikipedia was the Little Monster Men's International Ten-ball Open. By contrast Filler has 13 wins listed in that time period including 2x DCC and the UK Open.

One of our members here is an ER MD living in Florida, and he goes to big football games all the time. It's a requirement to have X amount of Dr's on site when there are X amount of people in his state. I suspect it's the same thing with police. Probably varies by city/state, but that's the general idea.
Sometimes the venue has certain roles, and sometimes the county has certain rules. I am a Texas resident and I rented a ballroom once they asked if we’d be serving alcohol I said yes. They said contractually. I am obligated to have so many police officers per person. So it could have been a convention center requirement or a municipal mandate.
