Considering paid entries, checks in the mail, PayPal payments forthcoming, and foreign credit card approvals anticipated, the U.S. Open entry list is over 100 with new entries everyday.

If you expect to enter the event, do it NOW, for the 128 player field may be filled within one week.

After that, you will be placed on a waiting list.

I will not be responding to postings, but anyone may call me at the Accu-Stats office with any questions or concerns.

No need for a response, of course, but it's just fantastic what you've done this year to poise this year's US Open for success. Thanks, Pat and thanks, Accu-Stats!

What ever happened to the 256 player field?

The powers to be decided that having a smaller field would allow for less tables which allows more seating room in the venue. One of the major contentions, from past Opens was the limited views from many paid VIP seats.

Also, it shortens the tourney length by 1-2 days, making it less expensive for players.

They bumped the entry to $1000, to keep the prize fund the same.

According to Barry ( during his interview yesterday) he bumped entry fee so he could pay deeper. I believe he said he's paying all the way out to 38-40 = 2k

Sounds good to me.

In the past, it was a $500 entry and a field of 256 (which only filled once or twice in the last 14 years or so). Even though it's still the same total amount of entry dollars, it seems like having a 128 player field, with a $1000 entry, might be easier to fill the field. If this is the case, going forward, then it's an improvement already.
