I was just wondering if any fellow AZers where going to the U.S Open and if they have professional Camera equiptment etc. I may need a little help, please let me know. Thanks,
Mark,

Same here. I'm interested in paying a quality photographer for some shots of key players. Please PM me if you're interested.

(please, only highly skilled photographers need apply)

I'd love to go photograph the Open one of these days. But I'm pretty sure it won't be this year as I'm booked solid through Jan 17th. What date is it anyway?

Also, forgot to add:

If you have a DSLR and you want to get a better lens, check out the guys at: www.lensprotogo.com. A nice 70-200 f/2.8 for the week is probably only a couple hundred dollars. Ship it directly to and from your hotel so you don't even have to travel with it.

We know "Rick S" takes some fine pool photog, but he told me he will not be attending the Open (he's flying from my neck o' the woods today back to Tucson).

RichR is your man!

Rich has been going to the Open for years and has taken several shots for me. His prices are very reasonable and a delight to work with.

Send him a PM.

Tell him "The Mayor" sent you!

What about Diana Hoppe?

Yeah, good call. She was all over the Open with her camera last year. She's been on the scene for many years and I would think has strong relationships that lead to some great shots. I don't know if she posts here or how you could contact her though.

Please do not over look the very Professional experience of AZ Billiards very own Jerry Forsythe.

IMO the industry's very best.

Hey Mark, contact Rick Schmitz of Rixx Pixx. Google it and you will find his web sight and contact info. Hes out of tucson and does great work. He is usually at the big events.

Does any one know the approximate cost for such a service? (i realize that it varies depending on the caliber of the photographer in question). Maybe on a per-picture basis? I'm just looking for one good shot of some select top players. PM me if you own any such photos already, as it doesn't need to be US Open related.

Mark, ask one of your players who's friends with Diana Hoppe -- you know which one -- to give her a call and see if she's coming this year.

I spoke to her last week, but we didn't talk about the Open.

She has been involved in some new things in recent times, which may prevent her from going, but I am not sure. If you want her e-mail, I can give it to you.

I can assure you that there will be a kazillion people there taking pictures. In fact, you could probably buy a digital camera for 200 bucks and take some pictures yourself. The players are usually very accommodating. I guess I'm not sure how "professional" you want to go with the photographs.

I was hanging with Rick last night here in Greensboro. He won't be attending the Open, but will be at the DCC. Not sure @ the SBE.

I didn't know that. He's a multi-talented fella ain't he? For you, Tom to say "the best" means something pretty strong.

Next thing you know someone is going to tell us he shoots good pool too! ;)

I have an older Canon Rebel EOS that still uses film. For close up photography you can't beat it.

RichR would be my recommendation too, unfortunately, he won't be at the Open this year.

JR Calvert (Inside Pool) is always there, as well as Diane Hoppe. Also, Mason King from Billiards Digest is usually there. Those 3 are the industry pro's that get most of their pics published.

Mason is no longer with the Digest. Replaced by Nick Leider.

Thank you all for your input. I have tried to contact Forsyth and I think he will be bringing his camera if Dianna is not going to be there. I also got an email from Shannon (Barry's daughter) and she said that Photos by Hoppe have a booth at the Open so I will be making contact with her today. Thanks again and I hope tosee some of you In VA.
