3)The only player that hasnt commended Charlie is Shane, mainly because Shane has plenty of money in the bank and the other players have to put up with and kiss Charlies butt because there fiancially broke.
Very sad statement by Charlie and sounds a bit whiney. Besides all the other reasons, USA should have no captain that has financial ties to the players on the team.

They read the posts on AZ. Altho they won't admit it, they must put some sort of consideration on the opinions of members, otherwise they wouldn't bother reading and commenting in their news bulletins.
If they received nothing but praise here, they would be handing out props to all the AZ supporters.
So yes, I believe we do have some pull whether APB and DP want to admit it.
A fool is easily led down a crooked path. Altho Shane may not have to rely on the APB or DP to make his money, he is no fool either.
He did the best thing he could have and that is distancing himself from the Tom Foolery of both organizations.
I watched Shane's facial expressions after he missed a shot and sat down. He didn't seem like he was all that into it.
He won the Tar match against Earl and the Turning Stone directly after the Cup. A vast difference here. Not saying that he didn't play well or give it his all, he just seemed a little distant.
How do you fade allegations of sneaking into womens hotel rooms?
Hes done. Very bad business move.
Think Varner should be captain.
... But lets remember he did get half of the 7 points usa did have ...
Quit thinking that you are so above your fan base that you have nothing to learn from them.
Couldn't have said it better myself. This press release was in very poor taste, as others have mentioned nothing should have been said at all. Because of what has transpired during the past year (with this, the actions of the ABP prior to the Open, what they said in the forums and one of these players behavior at Turning stone) It makes it darn near impossible to root for any of these players with the exception of Shane (he's cool in my book) in a regular tournament, let alone the Mosconi cup. To me, this is just another slap in the face for the fans of this sport. :angry:Note to Charlie Williams:
Want to run off the few remaining American professional pool fans and supporters left ? Keep this shit up.
From a PR and business point of view that was dumbest press release I have ever read. The only thing that mitigates the stupidity is the fact that based on past performance there is a good chance all of the quotes from other players were pulled out of thin air or attributed without their knowledge.
There are only two possible rational explanations for that release:
A. The players quoted (other than Archer and assuming the quotes are genuine) really are that out of touch. In which case they are screwed.
B. Charlie has taken on the idea of casting Team USA as the heel. In which case they are screwed.
What a wreck.
I normally try to stay positive but Charlie and this "so called players organazation" really puts me on tilt. A thousand times more than any other capatain??? What a totally BS and disrespectful thing to say. I'll bet Nick, who was a great captain and above all a true PROFESSIONAL on and off the table really appreciates these comments. And I love the comment about the team having so much chemistry. This is precicely what they did not have! Who besides Charlie would even have the desire to lead a team of players acting like middle school girls after a comment such as this? Heck I don't know, but maybe that's what they are trying to accomplish. Nothing else they have done has made any sense.:banghead:Charlies done 1,000 times more than any other captain? Why, because he took you out to dinner and played mommy and got you up at 7? Any league team captain could have accomplished the same thing he did.
What he DIDN'T do, is inspire the team to play their very best for the pride of the country, and not just for themselves. That was evident by the play of most of the players. In other words, as the captain, he miserably failed.
Who gives a rip if you guys like each other or hate each other. You obviously have no idea how to be part of a TEAM. So you guys got closer to each other, that is not what you were sent there for. You want to get closer to each other, share a room next time. Are you pros EVER going to get a clue??
You think that just because you can play good, that you automatically know how to be a team? You showed to all that you don't. Europe played to their potential. America did not. That's the bottom line, and that is the job of the captain and the team. You failed, own up to it.
As to the fans comments- without them, you don't have anything.
Again, get a clue. Quit thinking that you are so above your fan base that you have nothing to learn from them. You were supposed to be a part of TEAM AMERICA, and you want AMERICA to shut up and pay to watch you???? Are you really that big of an idiot??? sheesh.....
And to say that CW did more than any captain ever has is disrespectul to varner and those whove gone before him.
.

The only press release I want to hear from DP or ABP is that CW will NOT be the captain in 2012 or anytime soon. The only thing pool really has going for it is it's fan base, no matter how small that might be. If the politics keep up they will be gone also. Johnnyt
Right again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NotVery sad statement by Charlie and sounds a bit whiney. Besides all the other reasons, USA should have no captain that has financial ties to the players on the team.
