UK Open 2025 Telford, UK, May 6-11

Rough finish for Styer, 3 missed banks (all simple for a pro) and a whiffed kick in the final rack. Hopefully he returns strong for the next majors.

It's all over. Nice safety by Yapp on the five ball and Styer misses the kick completely. Yapp runs out for an 11-8 win.

An electrifying match and Tyler played well. Let's see if the final is as exciting as this one, which will be hard to top.

Tyler definitely didn’t choke, but two big misses on shots he should have made. Then a few poor decisions when he should have played safe. He lost the safety battle to Wilenski and he lost it to Yapp. Cost him in the semis.

Tough loss. No SVB, no Gorst, no Ko brothers, no Chua, no Ouschan, no FSR. Golden opportunity lost.

New break preferences by the top pros:

Package ends at 4. Yapp Makes a ball on the break but is forced to play a safe. Souto has a tough jump for his first shot since the lag. He makes the hit but leaves a tough open shot.

Yapp make the shot and runs out.

5-0.

Tyler, in my opinion, played great pool, but this match highlights how tough it is to beat the guys at the top of the pecking order. Tyler should gain a lot of confidence from this fine performance.

Only soft C and Z are pronounced in most of Spain as a th (per what they call Distinción). Any S that you might hear as a th is a bit not traditional (what they call Ceceo - which is only in a few regions in Spain. ...
OK, but does Souto have two syllables or three?

It’s amazing at how few spectators Matchroom draws at all but a few of their events. I have to wonder how much in person attendance factors into their long term vision for pool.
