How do you guys like these tips?

I'm going to be due for a new tip soon and was thinking about trying one. I've been using Kamui black soft and was wondering which UltraSkin to try? I was thinking a Black Pro or soft.

Thanks

The Ultra Skin soft black is closest to the Kamui soft black. I have this tip on my player and spare shafts. It doesn't mushroom as much as a Kamui but ALL soft tips will mushroom some when new.

What about glazing over? That was the big reason I left the Kamui tips years ago. At the wrong time a miscue can and will cost someone a match.

I've used UltraSkins for several years and really like them.
I've just recently changed from soft to medium black and found they feel better to me.
The soft tips would usually mushroom on me once and need trimmed. No problem with the mediums (yet).

Never found an Ultraskin to glaze at all - but the soft will mushroom for sure and will need to be re trimmed at some point. They play very well and they do not require much maintenance except for the mushrooming sides that require a trim.

I like Black med. and Fire hard usually. Kinda depends on the cue. Best deal in tips imo. Thoroughbred is my other choice. The med-hard is nuts on the right cue. My Mezz loves them.

Recently here o e of our members posted a pic of Judd Trumps tip. It was really mushroomed and apparently made no difference to him. Got me to thinking whether a mushroomed top is good or bad for playability. Certainly does not look nice but I'd love to hear more about the performance aspect of one versus the other.

I've played some seriously good $$ games with a pos house cue with a mushroom-CLOUD tip. More of an appearance deal.

Sadly they're $13 each in Europe.
How does that compare to other tips in your area?

$13 is still about half of what other high-priced tips like the glazy Kamui cost here. The Thoroughbred I am using now was $12 with shipping and more than worth it.

I have installed some UltraSkins, but haven't had any real play time with one yet. I plan to try an Ivory Medium on my next tip change to see.

ONE OF THE VERY BEST TIPS ON THE MARKET.....
I'VE TRIED A LOTOF TIPS OVER THE YEARS - SPENT A LOT $$$ ....INSTALL MY OWN TOO-
I USE BLACK HARD-NEVER GLAZE OVER- AND PLAY GREAT-NO MUSHROOM NEVER MISCUE-
MAINTENCE- I USE GATOR GRIP SCUFFER IS ALL"

The one tool that should be in every players bag. They make a tip pick as archaic as using a screwdriver to build a deck.

They also have knock offs for around $12 that work great. A tip pick is something that shouldn't be in any players bag since about 2011. I've had mine 11 years and it's still like new. Buy it once and it lasts a lifetime. Will work on any tip, even phenolic or other break tips. Doesn't remove material but gets the compacted leather good again.

Zan Plus €22
Kamikaze €12
Kamui Clear €20
G2 €19
Navigator Blue €22

So yes, it costs about half of the others here. Still quadruple the price of $3 in the States though.

Plus shipping, which is quite high if only for tips.

One nit-picky thing I'll add is that they are only $3.50 if you buy in bulk. For one or two they will be $7-10 here. plus shipping of course.
