UltraSkins, Bad Tips Miscues

hope not
i've only had one person tell me he didnt like your tips in how long??
2 yrs? 3yrs now?

Should I take the UltraSkin Layered Cue Tips off the market and start over? They are being described as the worst Tip in the Market place and nothing but Mis Cues. I don't want to be the cause of this.

It's all bullshit Tom.............. don't get knee jerk reaction to just one inexperienced person with a bad stroke. He would probably miscue with a rubber tip.

On occasion I miscue...... but it is always me and not the tip..... I just re chalk and keep shooting...............

You still have the best tip.......... Keep up the good work..

Yes Tom you should and you should start making pancakes. Layered pancakes.....

Just kidding.

Your tips are great and most of us would agree that is one of the best tip on the market. You can't make everyone happy. Plus with poor tip maintenance every tip will miscue no matter what the brand.

Soft tips mushroom when they "settle". Ultraskin SS will mushroom 2 times over a period of one month so I offer free maintenance. Put tip on , customer plays , one week , mushroom, trim, cut , reburnish, play another week, mushroom, trim, reburnish and the tip never mushrooms for the rest of the life of the tip.

I have been playing with a ultra Pro since they came out and they did mushroom a little a first but so what? After the tip settled it was fine and also I maintain the tip with a gator grip and all is good.

But layered pancakes ........

I use 400 sand paper instead of the gator grip....... I just clean the tip until I see black on the sand paper and it's just fine. It's about $36 dollars cheaper....... LOL

I got it as a gift from my gf so I kinda have to use it. Plus I think is works really well. But yea I get it 350 does the same thing.

Great tips!

I love me some Ultraskins.

Tom I think you're over-reacting. You know how forums are - people that don't like something seek out those threads where they can bash a product - cue tip, hand mixer, table saw, automobile - it doesn't matter. The majority who like the product don't bother to look for those threads because they're busy with more productive activities like playing pool, baking, making furniture, or driving (to follow my example above).
All of my players love their tips. I warn the guys about the Pro mushrooming once and then it gets trimmed and burnished and never happens again. They are all fine with that. The only comment I've heard was from a guy who had to adjust his draw - he was overdrawing at first - hardly a problem!
Keep up the good work:thumbup:

I have put on about 20 for friends and have 4 on my shafts and Tom's tips are the best I have came across since the first Moori's. I haven't had any negative remarks from anybody that has these.....

As Alpert Sloan said at his retirement when asked the secret of his success:
"I don't have the secret of success but I do have the secret of failure.
And that is trying to please everybody".

There is nothing wrong with your tips. Quit trying to please everybody.

TIps

Tom,

All is well :) and re-affirms itself everyday. Some like the latest magic potion to correct blatant stroke problems. You have a solid product priced very competitively.

I would have to agree...I have tried the Ki Tech tip its not for me started out good then the hit changed...took it off and put a US pro back on, I'm happy also I have installed a good number on other cues no complaints

We have installed about 30-UltraSkins, people like the tips and they like the price.
Kamui people will remain loyal to Kamui, same with Jeff's DawgDuds, and K-tech is
doing quite well.
UltraSkin tips have a narrow spread on durometer hardness between the
S-M-H, I haven't tried the Pro & HH.
When I first got in to UltraSkin tips I liked the idea of the narrow difference in hardness,
but as time went on it became apparent that there needed to more distinction.
UltraSkin definitely has a place in the market, and my advice to anyone using layered
tips is to buy a Gator Grip, and learn how to use it.
I don't own a Shore-D Durometer tester, but the medium UltraSkins seems to be on the
hard side, the soft isn't quite soft enough, and the hard isn't that much harder than medium.
Friends of mine in other parts of the country love the UltraSkin Pro, I need to order some.

UltraSkin as well as any layered tip can mushroom, get a mushroom tool, use the
Gator Grip, and don't use a pick.
If you lack mechanical skills be sure and have a trained professional shape your tip,
don't even try it by yourself.

Sorry, Tom, but I feel compelled to be the voice of dissension here - the UltraSkin tips are junk... plain and simple.

But I hate to see you left high and dry on the project, so I guess I'm willing to help by buying you out of all your existing stock for, oh... say... $0.06 on the dollar. That way you can make a clean break and begin again with a clean start. Let me know if you want me to help you in that way.

Best,
TW

Tip

I've had great results, ppl have to know how to take care of their equipment...

Tom....... take into consideration that the thread you posted the link to was started by somebody that had to come on a public forum and ask advice from complete strangers on how to adjust his own game or style of shooting. He isn't even smart enough to figure that out on his own......... THAT should tell you everything you need to know right there.

Ya Tom don't sweat it, I have what you would call a dirt stroke kinda Phillipino style but without the ability or precession lol and I have had zero mis cues with my med US. I have also installed about 5 and all 5 customers are still very happy with there ultraskins.
