Not if he does what he has done in the past with credit cards. If the IPT folds, nothing in the past points to the fact that Kevin will stop charging your credit card. Oh yeah, I believe he has also falsely charged credit cards before too.

Remember, this is a guy that has done prison time for that sort of thing. I signed up for the streaming matches from the IPT before I knew anything about Kevin Trudeau. That said, I have cancelled my subscription, and I am very nervous about whether or not the cancellation will go smoothly.

Yeah I hear ya, but most people are completely covered from all that, you have to be smart about any transactions you make, some of the worst credit card scams are from my credit card company itself:D Not to mention trying to get my parents off AOL, or getting double billed. I felt like driving to Virgina to AOL's home office back in the day, and then there is the readers digest or time life, takes too much effort to get off most of those plans, and sometimes you cancel and still get crap.

I see your point, and it's the reason the IPT will most likely be doomed one way or the other due to his name, but it's not like KT is the only one it's hard to cancel from, and by far many of the top corporate players some of us put good faith into are just as bad and many times connected to some real scum bag companies that scam all the time.

Half the offers I get for credit protection come close to scams with free gift cards and offers of points and bonus clubs that say they are free only to read the fine print that your signing up to crap, I have had to show way too many friends of mine that they were being billed for programs they never wanted.

I'm never trying to defend KT the person, I really don't know the man, he did defraud the CC companies, and I'm sure it's not always easy to cancel, I just wish all this anger would be put toward half of corporate America, many of which should be behind bars for far worse, the things they do make KT look like a boy scout, a small fry, they just have better PR and lawyers, people say I wouldn't give KT a dime, well do they know what the companies did, or do they do give there their money to? I think most large corporations suck, I wish we could go back to main street and mom and pop and pay with cash and not be just another mark or number.

I just got the same email, from "BCA Pool League," no less. Here is my response:

Given that the players have still not been paid for the last IPT event, I cannot believe you are sending out this crap

Until everyone is paid and this is settle in full, don't send me anymore of this BS.

Just got my latest update from the IPT. It is a press release they send out to all who have registered with them. I did so early on last year. I'd love to be able to post it on here.

It is a solicitation to join the IPT for $29.95 and pay "only" $5.95 a month to get their streaming videos etc. And discounts on IPT products. You can also qualify for commissions if you sign other people up. You become an "affiliate" of the IPT.

There is a long list of potential commissions for bringing more members in. they claim 1,200 members currently signed up. Hey, 12K a month. Not bad. Plus 36K up front.

To read this makes me nauseous. As if everything is well and good with the old IPT. Come on and join in the fun. Send us your money. I will try to post this here somehow. Of course, you can probably go to their website and see the same thing I just received.

It is basically a "boiler plate" multi-level marketing plan online.

I'm going to become rich!

But you only get $20.00 for each Referral. So how can 2 Referrals pay for my first year?

How do I become a sales manager, so I can get commissions on the referrals that my referrals refer?

Will I have a monthly quota?

He is too good!

I just cancelled my AOL Chase credit card. They screwed me on earned points when Chase took over. Anyway, if you check the interest it is 32% if you miss your payment.

That's worse than the old mob.

You missed the point Allen. The point is, that they're sending out announcements/press release type emails NOW, TODAY, encouraging people to get other people to sign up. The problem with that is... the future of the IPT is unknown and the signs do not appear to be pointing in a very good direction at this time. Esp when KT used the words "I don't know" multiple times in his BD interview.

If he folds & closes up shop tomorrow... that's money that you just gave away and will never A) Get the service/member benefits you paid for, and B) stand no chance in the world of getting your money back.

Do you realize how hysterical you are sounding?

And the money that they will lose? A whole $6?

I watched everything they had so I am way ahead of the game.

I'm far from hysterical Jake. Correct me if I'm wrong... isn't there an initial $30 fee and then $6 a month? Do you have to use a credit card to sign up? If you cancel and they keep charging... that money adds up at the end of the year... money you're paying interest on.

$6 might not be a lot to you but $72 a yr plus the initial $30.... that's $102 into KT's pocket and you're out the interest on that $102.

I like my money a little better than that. ;)

It's certainly not set up from the start to be an MLM scam, it may pr may not be worth it for the current content, but it's cheap enough for whats available. affiliate program, Referrals and commissions are no big deal, heck half the web is set up as affiliates that make a commission when someone clicks and buys a product or becomes members to the other sight. If you really look at that way, Google is MLM with Google AdSense, even Ebay has an affiliate program. The affiliate program and referrals are clearly not a scam attempt, (pool would be the last market to try that with) but unfortunately his name draws that attention from many.

I know KT has been into bad schemes and tons of people will never trust the guy, but to say giving referrals or commissions is clearly MLM is not entirely correct, it can be, and clearly we can see his name is a HUGE problem and hurts the IPT's credibility more then I ever thought it would. Any other owner attempting this would be seen as an attempt to help the IPT get revenue, not MLM scamming. This is peanuts, and not going to amount to much, he's just trying what he knows best to make the IPT work, he has to try this, or just forget the IPT because a large membership base interested in the IPT content and some sort of re-worked qualifier system is the only way the IPT has any chance. Did anyone think the IPT was going to be funded by KT completely, a total charity situation? The IPT has to find revenue streams to make it work, I like the streaming media idea and lower cost on IPT products, I just think it's going to amount to nothing, most pool players like to PLAY pool, not watch it, thats why the APA works and some people make loads of money.

Sure the IPT could go bust at any second, and thats the only question, but there is enough content on the site that people are not really getting taken, if the IPT stops then people will just cancel, no harm no foul. I have paid for services or things that have went belly up within months, it happens and I don't feel bad if I got my moneys worth while it lasted.

And for the record, I never signed up for it because I would rather buy pool matches on DVD and I'm still wondering why he has not made an effort to make cheap affordable DVD's available to promote the IPT.

.

You know Slim, it wouldn't be so bad if he actually PAID these commissions. To the best of my knowlege, no referral fee or commission has been paid yet to anyone. It's all on the wire. Like the other 3 Mil.

Seems you have to sign up to the free IPT Affiliate Program, just being a member is not going to get you a referral, I really don't think any members have completed the online affiliate program.

But yeah it would be interesting if anyone actually was able to get someone else to sign up, it may not be that no one has been paid, but maybe no has signed up to the affiliate program or was successful at gettting others to sign up:D

I think the program will be failure anyway, 3 thousand members tops, for the most part pool players like to play pool, not pay over $100 to watch pool online. Target the players like the APA and yeah, the IPT could pull in some good money. I just don't see a ton of people wanting to watch pool online, they may buy the occasional instruction video or pool DVD, but not to this extent, if anything people will just sign up watch a ton videos and cancel.

The membership is just as flawed as the qualifiers, with the idea the average player will be willing to shell out all this money like poker, they want to play pool and they know they have no shot at winning a qualifier.

SlimShafty.....I think Jay was talking about no-one yet being paid the
10%'s on the sign-ups scheme for qualifier fees that was introduced before the NA Open.

Would guess from the description 'annual' referral bonus that no affiliate would be paid their $20/- referral bonus until the newly signed up member concerned has paid IPT the full $29.95 plus 12 x $5.95 monthly payments because some referred members might not stay and pay for a full year. Therefore would guess that the first of those affiliate commision payments is probably a year away from now from being paid.

Would love to be wrong and learn that IPT will pay the $20/- up front as soon as the referred member joins and pays his $29.95 but seeing as the 10% commission on qualifying fee entries for The NA Open are still unpaid even now,I very much doubt it:rolleyes:

suggestion?

maybe if everyone who signed up for the ipt called their credit card company and asked for them to give them a new number... and then if the ipt actually pays out... they can sign on for the renewals?
heck... what do i know tho... when i read it during the tourney... it sounded fishy, especially when i asked them if there was a sign up fee PLUS a monthly fee just to watch the matches online
