Uncool AZer - CAUTION

Well, i had hoped i wouldn't ever have to be negative with anyone on this forum(except for a little ribbing for fun), but this involved my daughter. About a month ago now, Hang-the-9 posted a free cue for a kid to the first person to respond. I happened to be 1st..... he told me his kid had lost a cue and had one built for him. I guess he found the 1st cue, so he was giving the old one away. Cool right? Not long after, he tells me they lost it again, after which i didn't hear from him for a while. Well, after a month of trying to contact him, i gave up. I don't know if the guy needed rep or what, but it was pure BS. May he get what's coming to him for disappointing my daughter:angry: .
On the upside, i have a cue coming from a very cool AZer cuemaker who is familiar with this situation. I won't mention him at this time, as i don't know if he would want me to or not. I would exercise CAUTION when dealing with hangthe9, i know i won't deal with him ever again.
As this started on this forum, i hope the admins leave it here. Thank you.

You should be leaving him some negative trader feedback. Hangthe9 that is.

I read that thread and thought that was pretty cool of him to do that, then I was pissed because I didn't get the deal first for my son. Now I think it is great that another AZER stepped in to help you.Great job to the unknown AZer out there and shame on you hangthe9!

pm sent!!!!!

I do quite a bit of volunteer work that includes teaching pool to kids. On a few occasions I've had people on this board publicly tell me they would donate some sort of goods or services for the kids, but then have nothing ever happen.

After the first time, I learned not to count my chickens until they've hatched so to speak, and definitely not to tell anything to the kids until I have item in hand. I don't know if hangthe9 is a business but the people who publicly promise and then not come through often do seem to be businesses--hey it makes them look good, right?

(For the record, I've also had some people from this board be very generous. I'd say those who come through is about 50/50).

My only deal with hangthe9 went well. He went overboard to ensure I was happy and earned his rep from me. I'm acquainted with him and will ask about this. There is no excuse for making a promise and then changing one's mind, but based on what I know of this person, it doesn't sound like something he would do.

Last month my wife lost her job after 27 years without any notice at all. Took me about a week to start answering the phone again...just too much turmoil at home. Pocketwolf, sometimes bad things happen to good people. Maybe hangthe9 is just jammed up at the moment.

I'm not making excuses, but I am hoping you remain open to his making things right.

I'm glad to hear your deal went well, mine didn't. I know he was on here while i was waiting, he posted a different cue up for sale, and i heard he bought a raffle spot as well. I pmed him, i posted a clear your pm box in this forum, and i asked that he respond 3 different times. I think that was enough on my part. I don't know the guy, but this doesn't sound like your situation. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, hope all is well, but this was crap and i'm sure people want to know what they might have to deal with. If you do talk to him, tell him to keep it. Maybe he can hang curtains off it or something. My kid deserves better, and she will get it thanks to a different AZer.

Not a bad idea, just letting people know how it went down as of now. Thanks rackem.

I dont know either one of you but this is what I am thinking .
So his kid lost the cue that he was giving you for free .
You expect him to buy another one for your daughter because?
How about selling one of your cues and just buy one for your daughter instead of looking for a freebie................................Chuck

I second that.. My guess is once the lost cue was found, his kid probably decided he liked his old cue and wanted to keep it. No Dad in his right mind is going to give away his kid's cue if the kid wants to keep it. How can someone be so righteous as to negative rep someone for something they never invested a dime in. Man up and buy your kid a cue for Pete's sake. If you can't afford it, then let her play with a wall hanger like I did until I was 26 yrs old. Nobody ever bought or game me a cue. I bought my own and one for all my kids. Time you do the same.

You wanna talk about somebody's right to change their mind.. My own Mother wrote myself and my sister out of her will because she was a mean old lady. She gave a $15,000 diamond ring to a distant cousin and all of her life insurance to her best friend, and the property to charity. I didn't even get the family album. I think I should give her a neg rep... whatya think? Nah.. I forgive her.

I didn't ask him to to anything but respond back to me as to what was going on. I didn't ask him to post
'FREE KID CUE" on here either. I did ask him to honor what he said he would do. I don't know if he lost the cue or not, and i don't give a damn if he did. I don't want his cue. So if you sent a 100 bucks on a smokin deal and he didn't send it to you, is that cool too? It's not the money, it's the principal . If he wasn't going to follow through, he never should have posted the cue. I was trying to help out the next person in line, not look for a freebie.

Umm, auction guy, i never red repped anyone. It was a suggestion from a fellow azer who agreed with my concerns. If the kid said he wanted to keep the cue, FINE. But have the courtesy to let me know so i can move forward and arrange for something different. So you had to play with a house cue for years, so did i. What difference does that make? He posted a free kid cue to anyone, i was the 1st poster, i have no cue and wanted an explanation. I don't want the cue any longer, if you do feel free to pm him. As for the neg rep, get your facts straight, it wasn't me.Maybe somebody else doesn't like the way this went down either.....

I think you're totally out of line here.

You're posting warnings about a fellow AZer and dragging his name through the mud because he didn't give you something for free?

His kid lost it again. So what? Kids do that stuff.

You're acting like you have something invested here. Your Post reads like those where peeps are actually ripped off, i.e. lost substantial sums of money to a rip-off. NOT THE CASE HERE!

He didn't disappoint your daughter - you did. Buy her a damn cue for crying out loud.

This piling on is ridiculous. Guys are actually now taking POCKETWOLF to task because he accepted a free offer? This isn't about "manning up" on POCKETWOLF's side. This is about offering your word and keeping it. I guess if you decide to change your mind and break your word, the person promised must be the fool. The same logic applies to those who pm and say that they will buy your cue, then never follow through - your fault for listing the darn thing in the first place:rolleyes:

All i wanted was an answer. I don't know if his kid lost it or not. I disappointed my daughter? Ok, if you say so. It's awesome when people don't know anything about something , and have the most to say. Read the post, i had a bad experience. It's cool to inform someone if you had a good deal, but not a bad one. This may be the best guy in the world, but he didn't follow through with me. What if you sent this guy a grand and he didn't give you the cue. If only someone had posted a bad experience with this guy, i would have known better. Also von, she wasn't asking for a cue, i was trying surprise her since she loves playing pool with her old man. It was my mistake to tell her a cue was coming, hope i didn't DISAPPOINT her too much. She now will be getting a different cue that i won't tell her about. Thanks for your input.

lighten it up guys

I think the real problem is the fact that hangthe9 did not communicate that he could not follow through with the offer of the free cue. I am pretty sure Pocketwolf would have understood.
Heck his kid made out. She is getting a custom cue from one of our posting cuemakers.
For her sake I just hope it's not Wheat or Varney. She might outgrow it by the time it gets there.
:killingme: :rotflmao: :lmao:

The fact is that I rarely come here anymore cause all the crap. So I visit today and see more negative garbage, this time about a freebie.

I agree that the OP should have communicated better.

But this matter should have been kept private, IMO.

One dude changed his mind and/or didn't/couldn't/wouldn't follow through with an unselfish act of kindness. So dude #2 gets his panties in a wad over it and calls out first dude as a bad person?

That's just wrong. And 2 don't make a right.

That's my point.

W/E.
