List the cue for sale as an unknown maker, an base the asking price upon the quality / materials used in construction and the cues current condition.

Nothing else you can do except keep it and use it yourself

What he said. believe it or not there are great playing cues made by lesser known cue makers. bet cue i ever hit with in my entire life was unidentifiable. i was going to peal off 1200 for it but it got stolen before i could buy it.

Maybe Brad Simpson of the Cue Blue Book can give you more details. He might charge a slight fee.

It may be a Wayne Ball cue from Robertson's Billiard supply in Tampa, Last time I was there, a few years back, I saw some cues that look like that.

Get in touch with Wayne and see if he made it, most of his have a Shark logo and say Killer cues, but I have seen some without.

You can email them all the pics at robbill@verizon.net

It's worth a try maybe you can solve the mystery.

Just received word back from Debi at Robertson's Billiard supply. After seeing the photos Mr. Ball does not believe it to be one of his. Debi went on to explain that the materials used in this cue were ones that are on hand at their facility, and that it could have been made by one of two other cuemakers that have worked
there in the past, Chris Hernandez or Ricco. I was told that either of those would have signed the cue under the wrap...

I have often wondered if the answer to my query might be found under the wrap. Now I am even more curious... what do you guys think?

From the pics, the wrap looks really nice, but on the other hand, if you think it could use a new wrap, then get it done and maybe solve the mystery.

If it was my cue, knowing something could be under the wrap would drive me nuts.:embarrassed2:

As someone with a lot of experience on unknown cues, some cues you will NEVER know where they came from. I don't know what you have into it, but it can't be much and its not like its a Szamboti and you might lose a few thousand. Its a few hundred at best, and you should becareful finding out who made it might bring the price down. Like if it was a Wheat or an easton.

IMHO quit while you're ahead. Sell it and move on.

The wrap is in good shape, and I have not been curious enough to have it removed yet... but haven't ruled out the idea of it either.

Did you ever confirm that it is not an Espiritu?

No, I have not mailed the cue to anybody. Russ stated after seeing the pictures that if it was one he made it would have been in around 2000. The general consensus seems to be that this cue is older than that.

Dang guys, going on 1,600 views and only 39 voted in the poll, what gives? Don't everyone chime in all at once! lol

After all of those views without an ID on the cue, my next step would be to rent a billboard "Please Help ID This Cue" call 1-800-cue-make.
I voted to give up, but there is always hope, and I admire your persistence.

Be sure and offer a reward...

I was thinking that I would like to split the billboard cost with you.
Not to hijack this poll / thread, but I also have a cue nobody seems to be able to ID.
I picked it up along with a bunch of titlist house cues
Without knowing the cuemaker, I refer to it as The Club.
The butt diameter is like a baseball bat, similar to my Rambow's and old Brunswicks.

Reward offered

My "other" suggestion would be to just let the original thread slip into the backpages of the gallery. Don't touch the thread for a week or two. Let it die down.

After several weeks (once it hits maybe page 10), start a new thread (an abridged version with the basic details) with a new title and link to the old thread. Maybe list the people you've ruled out. This way you're not constantly bumping the same thread AND you give the cause a rest for a bit. And I don't mean that in a d-bag kinda way. I mean it quite literally. Reminds me of a line from one of my favorite tv shows...

"How did you do that?" (that = find what you were looking for)

"The same way anything lost gets found: I stopped looking."

Polls seem like they are the thing to do the past few minutes, thought I would bump this one so you guys would have another one to vote in...

@Mia- that might not be a bad idea. I have a pretty good list of the input I have received.

Sure, I'll split the billboard. I wouldn't be opposed to a reward if conditions were right. Any ideas? I have no clue on yours, but wish you the best of luck! -Josh

Has the wrap been removed yet??

Negative, the wrap is still in place. I am quite curious as to if the answer might be under there, but haven't talked myself into having a perfectly good wrap replaced. I guess the wrap that it has now might not be original anyway, who knows.

I would never remove the wrap or the cue loses any value to bumping this thread... As it sits it might be worth 150ish if someone thinks they have a lottery ticket under the wrap but if you cut it off you are down to a buck 25 at most if nothing is there and!!!!! you have no thread to bump....

Well played on not removing the wrap!
