Can I get everyone's opinion on the the Friday 10-ball tourney at Big Dogs?
We have a Saturday 9-ball at Stix II, Sunday 9-ball at BD, Saturday 10-ball at Stix WH, and Friday 10-ball at BG all with basically the same rules.

What do you think is the possibility of getting the Friday 10-ball tourney to be call pocket rules?

I know with the caliber of players that these tournaments there isn't that much slop but it'd still be nice for there not to be any.

Also, how late does the one pocket tourney run on Saturdays? Is it possible to play in that and the 10-ball at Stix WH?

You da man Jarrod. Don't listen to Mikey. I'm all for it and it's the way 10 ball (originally) was intended to be played! You have to call your shot in eight ball. WTF None of the sort of players playing want slop? watup everybody? I like losing hill hill on slop. P.S. mikey likes to just hit em hard and let em roll!!

first situation: their ball would spot and they would have BIH behind the string

second: your ball stays down and they have BIH behind the headstring.

Since your fouls don't count you don't have to owe a ball. But his ball comes back out and he still gets BIH. When you make your winner and scratch you win since you don't spot a ball.

Hmmmm, seems there is a conflict on this rule still. The only interest I have in this is because it came up in a game I was playing in. It was $20/game, I got paid for the win but thought I would ask the question here too. I've asked quite a few people and no two answers are alike. It's kind of frustrating.

I don't see how you can shoot in your opponents ball and scratch to spot one when getting "fouls don't count". Wouldn't any ball you made in your hole spot if you scratched on it by those rules? I would think that you'd have to fire the hanging object ball off the table to spot it and avoid a loss.

Hmmm, I guess you just have to work it out with the guy your are playing before hand, like kitchen line rules.

So you are not really against chopping you just don't want the headache of people saying I agree or disagree. That's totally different. Here's one of the problems with 2 sets. The guy from the losers wins the first set. Now whoever wins the second set, wins the tourney. Losers side races are often shorter than winners side races. Ask yourself, would you rather race to 4 alternate break for the win or would you want to chop?

If you do the heart test from there people will just chop. At the end of the night the pool nuts would watch a good final set. So if it's about you don't personally want to be responsible for a chop that's cool I get that. If you don't want people to chop in general though that's a proven way to get that done. Greed will kick in if the money is different and you got a good race that will determine who deserves it more.

Right Mikey! I just don’t want the job. I could care less if the players do it once they get their money spot.

There is so much push and pull of money between players, I would probably get caught up in the, "he owes me from last night!" argument. Just another away to try and avoid the drama.

10 BALL was good. had 19 players. Im really hoping to get a full bracket this saturday so for all of you who haven't supported the tourney yet, GET THERE

I thought i solved the chop issue, but NO. Im come to realize it's the same group of people who always want to chop. In last saturdays case, the 3 boys who wanted to chop DIDN"T aske MEL who placed 4th if she would like to chop. He was to play TROY for grntd 4th spot, Troy Theo and Ronnie all said they would chop 3 ways. But what if mel won? She was very offended and I can totally see why. Bad move for the boys.

First place paid $92, Second was $69, Third was $46 and 4th was $23. The top 3 players ended up chopping it even 3 ways. Doesnt seem fair from 1st to 3rd?

What really cracks me up about that? -- feeling so free to chop and take a $23 hit for 1st place. But these are the same people who act like they are dead broke all the time? Don't get it.

Theo had the nuts from there and chopped it for no apparent reason.

The chop guaranteed them all $69 but if they would have chopped 4th they would have lost $11 and the chop would have been $58/person. No offense but no one thinks a girl can win so it got pretty chilly in there.

Sorry I left without saying bye. It was the only way for me to leave. You know how I feel about listening to everyone's war stories and all the guts and glory!
