I'll be there too. Maybe I'll see some of you guys.

Sure would appreciate some participation from you Iowa boys over on the ISPA site...been pretty dead over there for so long, it aint hardly worth checking daily. There are a couple of discussions that could use some opinions though. Try it, you might like it...ispa.in2pool.com

See you tomorrow...Ken

I Didn't hear no stories yet really someone put me on.

Here's one...

A player is (wrongly) listed on both the masters and intermediate players; list. He has played intermediate for 3 years because his 3 years in masters ran out long ago. He's not really a master level player anyway.

He plays on an Open team...until that team goes up against a local DM team..guess which team?...and guess what happened? gues who is the asshole?

The guy gets disqualified for doing nothing wrong....so the whole team has to forfeit out of the tourney....on late Sat night. Then his name magically disappears from the list.

Same shit, different day.

I'm sure no TX teams pull this crap.

You missed the snow.

someone gambled with Jamie and it went south(duh!), someone got drunk(duh!), someone went to jail(DUH!), someone passed out(DUH!), and someone got kicked in their head(DOH!) :thud:

Oh, you were wondering about the tournament???????

DM had quite a few people cash in the singles events in 8 and 9 ball. They also had several teams still in the tourney when I left around 5ish on Saturday.

Lol

Yea sounds like a typical year lol. Nice to see the time away from des moines hasn't changed jamie any. Kind hoped a kid might screw his head on a little better, people might be a little more apt to do business with him and not want to kill him after. Oh well see what I get for hoping.

Des Moines area players were as stated and played well.

Is it me or is the Open Singles event getting harder to play, I saw a few guys (sleepers) play that looked like they could be moved up real easy.

Ill take my 96th place finish happily. I played well in the end, made a safe and the guy got out what can I say.

Thanks ykndoit, I had fun playing 9-ball this year...not so much in the 8-ball singles. I just can't understand a race to 2 in a state championship tournament. I could have saved $40 and stayed home for a race to 3. Oh well, some rumors they may adjust (longer) next year because Gary Benson did such a good job. Of course, when I talked to Gary about it, he really liked the shorter races because none of them went over the alotted time. We'll see.

I heard about some of the excitement, but not all. I know the guy that slept in jail, but he didn't elaborate on any of the details. Seems most of the action happemed after I went home every night. I love the Seniors Division, they finally got it right...no matches scheduled after 10PM...we need our sleep ;).

My team got knocked out Saturday night at 1. Stoped at a truck stop for breakfast and finally climbed in bed at 4AM. Sunday was a blur for me. Our team got knocked off by two DM teams. First was Phill's team, then the Faber boys squeaked by at 1AM. Had fun playing the team event but as alway, "there's always next year"..

See some of you next week. We'll do it all again...Ken

I hadn't gone since 2005. I thought the management of the whole thing was better. Still some logistic problems, but overall it went pretty smoothly, imho. It is still an endurance test, if nothing else. Getting older sure doesn't help.

A teammate, who post here, got 7th in singles out of over 600 players....Way to go, Complex13!

Our team finished a respectable 9th-12th in the Open....I think we just ran out of gas at the end.

We estimated at least 2,000 players overall. That's a lot, I think.

Oh yeah, I'd say the overall level of play is waaaaay up since my last visit. Iowa players are finally coming up to speed, imho.

EDIT: Congrats to Theo....He beat our guy for 5th and was playing as cool as a cumcumber. At the same time I could watch Phil on an adjacent table come from the L side to win two to take it all....Congrats to both winners.

The funny thing about Phil, is right after he won it I was talking to him and he was so drunk he may as well been speaking Swahili.....I couldn't make out a damn word he said.... But that's our Phil. I think he's the best drunk player in the world.

I played okay in Masters 8ball. My losers side match Dustin ran me over 4-0 in 15 minutes. My breaks weren't working at all. I asked him if he was trying to set a speed record, and he said he got so drunk last night that if he stays down too long he starts shaking too bad to play. Needless to say, he played great.

Our team went a few rounds in Masters. We played good. We had Whiteys team down by 19 points going into the third round, but three consecutive 10-0's put a stop to that. After that they just hit a gear. We tried slowing their tempo down, but I think it only hurt us.

FYI- I have a dealership program in the works with Jacoby, so if anyone is in the market for anything Jacoby has give me a call.

QUOTE]

That person called our room at 4 in the morning to have Worm pick him up. We all didn't sleep well that night...thanks Victor!

It's all good though, good times. I got 13-16th and a not too shabby $240 payday so I am happy with that. I had a good match with Complex13 on here that went hill/hill. There were some real good shooters in the open. I was a bit surprised on some of the matches I played on how well I shot, as well as how strong the competition was.

Good times though...some standard drama between two BFFs so that was fun to watch. Didn't make any money in cards but didn't lose any either. All in all it was a good trip.

FWIW I got hammered on Saturday out here and was there for that controversial match where the girls took their shirts off and played in their bras. So plus 1 to the hangover list.

It was a good match. Every game I let you at the table, you won, except for the last one where you scratched. The match with you and the hill/hill match I had with Theo were the toughest ones I had.

I enjoyed every match I had in singles. Everyone was cool and respectful and no one acted like a jack@ss. There were a few loudmouths playing teams but all in all it went well.
