Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Dustin won 8ball masters, beating Jesse Bowman.

Jesse/Jamey/Dwaine Bowman's team won Mens Masters.
Dustin/Jerrod/Lee/Bob/Zack got 2nd.
Our team took 3rd.



DSM had a great showing, ladies/men singles/team.......congrats to all.

We got double dipped -- last match came down to last game(s). It was fun to play, but the results just didn't happen. They played good and got some rolls and we didn't do either. Que sera sera.

QC Team - Startin from Scratch won the Open Level 1.

DM's DANG pool team was in second set of Level 2 Finals when we left. It was 3-4 or something but early in the match....

I will say that getting done at 10-ish and driving home last night SUCKED. Driving while tired is excruciating. We even stopped to switch three times. The ISPA needs to look at that a bit - start the team brackets on Friday afternoon / evening so you don't play out so late on Sunday. JMO

On another note -- it seems rather ironic that the best pool is getting played on Sunday afternoon / evening and NO ONE IS THERE!

They were seriously breaking down tables in the next row -- I felt bad I wasn't stacking chairs while i wasn't shooting to help the crew out. The venders were pulled out by Sunday AM. Goofy to me that it was over before it was over.

Brother you are speaking the truth here. I got a speeding ticket at Newton and he was nice enough to knock it to 10 over. Some of us have to work Monday morning (730) and don't want to waste another vacation day because it gets done so late. I don't even care about the ticket really. If I didn't speed I might have had to pull off the road to nap.

Congrats to our team for getting 2nd. We didn't have our best game in finals and yes they did get some good rolls for sure. Still, we beat some real good teams to get there. Congrats to the other Des Moines teams who did well.

To the guy who clapped when Brad got hooked on his 8 ball in the last two games, I know you apologized afterwards and it is the heat of the moment, but that was not classy. None of our team clapped or cheered when the other team missed or got hooked and I thank them for that, we were very gratious in defeat.

Ya, I wish.... Thursday night a guy did buy the $9500 Egyptian themed one he had though. No, I only spent $3000ish.:wink: I have a couple of real nice customs, 6 or 8 jump cues and a handful of the new "Edge" performance shafts......and of course they are all for sale....:woot:

Wow, that sounds familiar.... I was on my second break and run of the match, and it was a pretty tough one. I had to play extreme inside and carom off of one of his balls to get shape on the eight. I got it, but left myself a sharp angle, and against the rail. I jacked up and center pocketed the eight....the cue ball caromed off of one of his balls and somehow drifted in the side pocket. The second it did one of his players stood up and shouted "YES" while pumping his fist in the air. Needless to say I wanted to stab him in the face. The guy I played was really cool about it and wanted me to know it wasn't him that said that. I told him no problem and calmly said i thought it was pretty $hitty thing to do especially after making a really tough run out. Not once did the guy apologize for being a douche.
 
Maybe it was just me, but this year seemed like a really bad year for '$hitty' team behavior...:scratchhead:

I will say props to Jamie Bowman. He did some correcting IMMEDIATELY of the offending behavior. "We don't clap for bad, just for good" and he wasn't even on the team; just spectating some hometown guys. Moves him up a notch in my book. TAP, TAP, TAP.:clapping:

I used to think the level 1 Open was a fairly 'good' type of player and maybe 'above' the petty cheering of poor play - especially since I always thought Level 1's realize that its not the top of the ladder by any means. This year seemed to fly in the face of that...

I guess you can't teach class...:shrug:

Sorry Bruce That stinks. -- I probably would have speared him with a cue... :nono:

After one guy about had a coronary celebrating his open table 5 ball run after my failed RO; I merely commented, "First time playing pool?":rolleyes:
