Thanks for that. I always like the vibe of a well-attended event
Dittos to "Go Bison" but I hope it does not feel like MSP.Frisco is a nice suburb. Been there a few times for FCS National Championship games (Go Bison!).
Easy access to DFW, lots of good bars/restaurants in the area.
I think the area feels like MSP, but super sized.
I'll keep an open mind here, but Dallas (actually, Frisco is 27 miles from Dallas) in August seems a very strange choice. Other than the Jeddah WPC event that is always played before countless empty seats, the last time a Matchroom major was staged in a really hot, humid city in the hot weather season was when they staged the Spanish Open in June 2023 in Lugo, Spain.
Indoor conditions at the WPC seemed fine. So it's not the outside weather, it's the indoor climate control.I cannot remember an event after which the players complained so much about the humid playing conditions, and to nobody's surprise, Matchroom never returned there, If Frisco is going to be Lugo all over again, heaven help all of us who plan to attend.
I'll trust Matchroom to make this work, but they have got their work cut out. Let's hope they will manage the playing conditions more skillfully than they did in Lugo.
Just differing opinion , I guess. The high in Phoenix last year was August at 118. The average high for August was 108.No it's not. I grew up in Alabama and Texas and I worked in Texas as recently as 2022. Yes, it is miserable and sucks taking a shower and then immediately needing another one; however, it doesn't come close to not being able to touch a car or when you step out of a casino (Bullhead/Laughlin) when it's 126 outside and that hot air smacks you in the face like a 10 lb sledgehammer.
Orlando is about 15 degrees cooler than Dallas in the summer. The superb Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando has proven a great venue for pool.I think the location will be fine regarding playing conditions. The Florida Open was in Orlando in mid-August last year and it was comfortable inside.
But yeah, getting in your car at mid-day to go out for lunch...
the worst is when it doesn't cool off at night. when i was kid we only a/c'd the front of the house. trying to sleep in 85deg swamp air is not fun.Just differing opinion , I guess. The high in Phoenix last year was August at 118. The average high for August was 108.
The average August high for Dallas was the mid 90s.
I’ll take a dry 108 over a humid 95 any day.
August in Dallas and Phoenix is like January up north. Nobody spends much time outside.why go to either. dallas or arizona in the summer time. thats like arguing which is the worst way to die when you dont have to.
IF that was to happen it was when the family sold out. I myself tend to believe he'd be happy knowing his baby is still going strong. I wish Pat could have taken over but MR has WAY deeper pockets.Do you think Barry Behrman is rolling in his grave?
you get used to wherever you live. my dad was from northwest Penn and he never liked it when it got hot here in Tulsa. we always went to the gun club when it was jacket/sweatshirt weather.actually up north its not so common to have days below 20 or 30 degrees in the afternoon. and many are out hunting, fishing, skiing, or just doing chores. even on the colder days. just a warm jacket.
not of course the ladies with plastic fingernails and high heels, and the men in suits and ties. they are indoor complaining.
On this forum?! No way, man ...ppl probably gonna complain wherever it's held.
ppl probably gonna complain wherever it's held. it will fill up within hours, prize fund is 500k and i bet there will be plenty of fans too
Which facility was that game at? Indoor at the Star or a bigger stadium? Didn’t feel like MSP to me as a guest in both. But I do like both. Haven’t done MN in Jan or DFW in August tho.Frisco is a nice suburb. Been there a few times for FCS National Championship games (Go Bison!).
