I see on AZ homepage they have the tournaments that have MC points in 2013. US Open is not one of them. Sounds like the begining of the end to the US Open 9 Ball. Johnnyt

I can't say that I didn't expect it. I mean, this stuff looks bad on the BCA, WPA when they saction an event that does not pay off.

does the tourney even have a date for 2013?

First time I've seen dates for the Southern Classic and the return of the Ultimate 10 Ball. No SBE event this year?

Question about ranking

I was just looking at the BCA rankings here on AZB and saw something I hadn't noticed before.

The first sentence in their explanation of the ranking system says

"The BCA Ranking System is designed to rank American players according to their performance in American tournaments"

But when I look at the rankings 4 out of the top 10 are not American players

What am I missing?

The BCA rankings that you are looking at are ranking all the players competing in BCA points events, however, the BCA only invites North American players based on those rankings.

Bonus ball is gonna mess it all up from what I hear from one of the players. Probably 30 players miss from Derby alone.

SBE decided to sanction with ABP... Not BCA.

Works for me. I don't feel that any event using Predator 10-ball rules (option to give table back after any miss) should count toward Mosconi Cup eligibility. This dumbed-down verison of ten ball is generally used at SBE.

Of course, in our worst nightmare, ABP rankings will one day be used for Mosconi Cup selection. Let's hope for better.

I'm pretty sure it's just BCA ranking events. Nothing is mentioned about Mosconi Cup.

BCA points puts the top 2 in and the next 3 are matchrooms picks and they say they go by bca points and other things. It's possibile i'm wrong here. Johnnyt

I believe that you are correct Sir. The thing is its a little hard to be 100% sure because they have changed the format for picking the Mosconi Cup a couple of times at least. I think it was the top 2 on the BCA and the winner of the US Open was automatic at one point. Aha well they do use the BCA Ranking to pick Mosconi Cup.
