Us Open Updates....

Congrats to Shane.

Standing by for posts explaining he is overrated.

Not overrated. Great player no doubt. However, I think Orcollo is a notch better overall. I think they need to change the game of 9 ball as I said in another thread- one simple way would be to have the 9 ball rack on the spot to prevent the wing ball from flying in nearly every time

Or just play 10 ball.

I understand your point but look at the final eight in the Open and explain to me how the best players are not there at the end of a 9 ball event?

The US Open 9 Ball is one of the very few real traditions in pool. Leave it alone. There are plenty of other events out there to monkey with.

Do I hear an AMEN. Some times you should just enjoy it as-is. 10 ball is the game. But this is the US Open 9-ball championship. There is room for it, and it has a rich history.

Ask the derby to replace bank pool with 10 ball and see what reaction you would get. I wasn't serious about this, just an example.

X2. I like the game alot if you play with standard texas express rules and the bottom two corners on the break rule.

I wonder why folks do this?

Instead of assimilating 9-ball rules into a game that was embraced to replace 9-ball, let's play native 10-ball rules as standardized worldwide.

Otherwise it's roughly analogous to "let's play chess, but with checkers rules?"

Were they not playing on the same table, shooting when it was their turn to play?

That has been done too, at the US open. All that happens is the one is made in the side with regularity.

As others said, enjoy the game for what it is. Personally I like watching players put packages together.

Sf, I don't know the official rules and neither does anyone I know. We don't play it around here often. That is probably why I am of that opinion.

Yes. However, when the conditions get tougher, Orcullo usually comes out on top- such as 10 ball at the super tough table at Hard Times in Bellflower this past May.

Orcullo also beat SVB in their TAR match up.

SVB is a great player. Top 10 in the world in my opinion. However, I think Orcullo is the best 10 ball player in the world on challenging equipment
