So what you're trying to say, is when someone comes into a pool room and makes a grandiosely-stupid comment about something non-pool-related to the masses, but someone sitting nearby and within earshot happens to have in-depth knowledge of the topic that the person who made the boneheaded comment about, should say nothing? Or, if he says something, it's considered "boasting about how nerdy they are," when all it was to correct bad information?

I really would like to meet Thaiger. Not too many Brits I've met that I didn't like. I'm pretty sure our pool culture here would be interesting to most anyone.

i would not mind meeting most people here....if for no other reason than to see if they are for real :) Some people here come across so over the top Left/Right/loonie/Christian/American/British/European/Finnish*gasp*! :)

No offence, but I've been to LA and have no desire to return. An American road trip is definitely in the offing at some stage, however.

I'd prefer the tacos to the fish n chips, I think. Almost all fish n chips are inedible throughout the world, aside from small pockets of resistance within the north of England. Even there, the horrors of vegetable oil is replacing god's own nectar; beef dripping.

Enjoy your trip and bring something warm and waterproof. It's mid summer in August but that guarantees nothing. The weather really is crazy over here, which is why it's a national obsession, and all we ever talk about. Well that and who invented the internet, obviously. ;)
 
American pool players shoot just as straight as the snooker players

The only reason American Pool has declined is because no one has been around to put it on TV regularly. Streaming video will not do the trick (it just targets existing pool fans)......ESPN or FOX SPORTS is the key right now, although there are certainly some other stations we've been testing.....one thing's for sure, they are all open to making money off a pool show, it's just a matter of time to get the right "formula" for the best production/story quality.

And, yes, the American pool players shoot just as straight as the snooker players. We could play TARGET POOL to test that if anyone's interested......and bet REALLY HIGH> ;) 'The Game will be the Teacher'

On a snooker table .... I'll beg borrow and steal to go all in on snooker players , the snooker playing woman have come over and destroyed American woman ,,the only reason it does not happen from the men is because it's not worth their time ,,,,

CJ has a point.

If they were all to play target pool/snooker in sets the result would be just about even.

Of course, there are no decent US players at the moment (maybe one then) so you'd have to get Europeans to do it.
