Coach Johann pulling out all the stops. Utilizing his Russian pool federation connections to bring this together.
Things we can derive from this?....
- Corey was the next in line for the team, the 6th (alternate) pick?
- Russia has some young talent in Dudanets and Gorst...been watching these guys train on their billiard brothers YouTube channel. exceptional and shows Johann's influence in their training, but more importantly, their dedication to training.
- this takes Coach Wilson's approach to the next level. Wilson had the team doing mosconi type match demonstrations, but nothing like the "Rocky IV" treatment, getting the team in isolation in Russia and drilling down on them.

I see Chinakhov as the senior leader and best player for sure. I don't know his age but I assumed he was 6 or 7 years older than maxim and fedor so that's why I see them as Russian "young guns".

USA caught some bad rolls, but there were also a couple of bad shots/choices.
I said from the beginning picking Johan as a team captain was a good move as he may have some ideas and training methods that we have never seen before. This event will help provide some learning moments for the team as well as build teamwork and comraderie. In the past it was always after the USA lost the Mosconi Cup that we had data to learn from and at that point, it was too late. Putting together an event like this is was a fantastic move on Johan's part.
