USPS shipping issues

This is not intended to accuse the seller is at fault !

I bought a cue from someone in the wanted for sale section and the cue shipped out last Friday via usps priority shipping. The counter person told him I should have the Cue on Tuesday or wednesday, here it is Friday morning and I still haven't recieved the cue.

The seller provided me with the tracking # and everything, when I look up the number on the usps website it just tells me the package was accepted in the original location where he shipped it from .

The seller even called the post office to find out what was up, and all they could ay is to keep checking the tracking number, which is pointless since they never update any info like UPS would do.

Has anyone else had issues with USPS shipping, and does anyone have Any advice for me on How to deal with this ?

Thank you
Steve

I don't think there is much you can do. I have done a few hundred transactions through the USPS, and something like this has happened about 2 times. It may just show back up in the system and make it to your doorstep soon. However, if the package was lost, it will take a long time to straighten everything up(taking it that it was insured). Good luck!

yes it was insured.

thanks
steve

i am probably jumping the gun here, and not giving a chance for the package showing up a little later than expected. but with the way things work today, one never knows

Two laws to live by when shipping cues:

NEVER ship a cue via Priority Mail on a Friday. The cue will sit needlessly somewhere over the weekend.

Priority Mail offers delivery confirmation, this is not a tracking number. Express Mail offers a tracking number that you can use to determine exactly where your package is located.

Hope your cue was insured and it turns up safe and sound.

Priority Mail does not provide tracking!

The number you have is for "Delivery Confirmation". Obviously, you would know if it had been delivered.

Most likely it is just delayed and will show up, just a little late. If it is lost, you will have your hands full making a claim!

UPS and FEDEX both have actual Tracking of packages, which is why all of our US shipments go through UPS.

They all have their issues, but in most cases everything works out good, so just be patient.

I haven't had too much luck shipping anything with USPS. As such, whenever I buy anything online I pay extra for shipping to make sure the item is shipped via UPS or Fedex.

I have had lots of things shipped through USPS and i dont care what method that you ship it. It cannot be tracked. I have never been successfull at tracking anything from them ever!!!

I use Priority mail all the time and I have had only one problem like this. If possible, have the seller go to the original post office it was shipped from, and they can do a trace of it and try to locate it for the shipper. At least you should get an idea where it is and when it should be delivered. They may be able to call the location that's stalled and goose it along or confirm that it's lost.

It was easy for me because I live/work so close to the post office, it may not be so easy for someone else who lives further. I have never had a no show of the package, but I guess it's possible. If you have insurance as you indicate, you are good either way, but I klnow you want the cue so it sucks.

I hope this helps a little.

Shipping

Shipping is always a little risky. UPS tracking ain't nearly as nice as it could be. Sometimes they scan your package, sometimes they scan the truckload they think it is in, sometimes it is a "computer scan" of where they imagine it should be. I can tell dozens of horror stories about UPS most dating from after the strike. They are hard on their workers and some workers take it out on the customers.

Fed Ex is at least as reliable and my packages overall arrive in better shape.

USPS, getting to the subject of the thread, is my favorite way to ship. Gentlest treatment and most reliable overall. However, Priority Mail doesn't guarantee anything and I'm convinced that the Priority Mail overflow goes by the standard trucks you see on the road all the time. I shipped a lot from Louisiana to Utah, Colorado, and California. Packages almost invariably arrived on the other end in two to three days or about two weeks, very rare for it to be anything in between!

A friend sent me a check Priority Mail from North Dakota. Eight months later it arrived on my doorstep safe and sound!

My shipping preferences are USPS, Fed Ex, and UPS in that order. There is a smaller carrier that has given good service the few times I received something using them, maybe DHL? but I don't have enough dealings with them to have a real opinion.

I'd raise a stink soon and try to get the package found. Miracles do happen sometimes if you make enough noise. I had a $1500 package shipped from California using UPS that went to Salt Lake and disappeared. No happiness. After getting the run around for a few days I called a friend in Salt Lake that did the UPS negotiations for his company that does several millions a year business with UPS. By blind luck it happened to be the week he made them wine and dine him each year while negotiating. I asked him to drop the hint that finding my package would be a good thing. My package was never found and to this day sits in Salt Lake, according to the computer. However it miraculously showed up on my doorstep a few days after it became a point in negotiations!

I ship almost exclusively via USPS, and I have to say they are batting 1000 right now.

Steve, you have an additional number that can be used to locate your package, your Insurance number. The shipper has to go to the location where the package was shipped and present the receipt, tell them it has not been delivered, and they can do a search that is not available on-line.

Well the cue is now a week late, at this point I am beyond pissed !

I highly recomend nobody to use usps shipping service !

I shipped out an extension First Class Mail and only arrived 40 days after, bunch of morons...
The thing is, it is starting to be more expensive than UPS and Fedex.
