Hey Guys,

I had several multi rack runs today, topped out at a 44 for the day.

i was playing somewhat timid, i think i was trying too hard to be honest with you !

I set the camera up in the only workable spot without getting in the 3 Cushion Players Way. Let me know if the angle is okay....I can always move the Gold Crown I if possible....LOL:p

I am uploading the video to Vimeo as we speak...Check back for the link in a response.

i ended the run by my doing, i think i was just frustrated and gave up trying to play a jumpshot instead of playing the bank....

Before that after the breakshot i had 2 shots, the one i played which i knew was gonna get me trapped or a steep cut off the rail into the side pocket...I Didnt like neither of them !!

please give me some input

nice run again my friend, at about 16:00 i would have drawn back slightly on the 8 so you have an angle on the 5 to go to the rail and back out, at the end, maybe the 9 2 combo was available ? Also, i think you did not follow through enough on the last break, you should have gotten a better shot there. anyway, keep em coming.

I saw the 9-2 combo but i didnt like it, it was a steep cut angle and i didnt think i could get enough power into it being just about up against the 9 without fouling it !

and besides i believe that i am somewhat a favorite to make the jumpshot that i played. i just think that i didnt bare down on it, like i said i think i just gave it the give up stroke. becuase i was frustrated at my outcome of the break.

amd as for the break, i had all to do just to make the ball. i had to practically cut that ball in reverse. i dont even think Ortmann could of cut that ball. I Had so much english on that CB to throw the ball in , there was no way i could of added control into the equasion... for as hard as i hit that i should of ended up with more than i did..

maybe my "Rack Girl" jipped me.....LOL
(thats my wife, HAKurtz....Different shirt this time)

I am still finding it uncomfortable to shooting in this room, its like my bearings are off..... the lighting is a big issue for me. aince they dont have table lights. just regular florescents in the ceiling, i am used to table lights amplifying over the table....

oh well, enuf with my babble...look forward to Day #3

Nice resolution on the camera.

I didn't know why you were going out to the middle on your first shot but I guess it was to shoot that dead one and break up the other balls in the middle. Not much for your next break shot but it looks like you identified the 6 early and played a nice pattern to get on it.

On the break ball, you almost got f'd on position by an errant bump. You make the 9 and then look at the table for what seems like hours. Paralysis by analysis. Not sure I'd take the 2. Probably would have cleared off the 14, 10 and down for something in the side, pick off those other two stripes and then come down and break with the 13. You saved those two stripes until the end and they were on the opposite side of your break shot and you had trouble getting to them. You got lucky bumping one down to be a key ball for your next break. Looks like one of my runs.

Nice break shot but you ended up in the kitchen and had to come with a long cut. Nice shot. Now they are all pretty good. 9 and 13 need to be separated. You got to them pretty quickly. A few shots later, you go into the balls and knocked the 10 and 15 together, but they are both makeable. Came around and got kind of close to the 6, but were able to shoot it. Got on the wrong side of the 5 but made a great shot to recover position.

You had a lot of side spin on that break ball, kept spinning forever. Your next shot, in hindsight I bet you wish you had hit it a little stronger with some follow to push through.

Keep them coming.

I like the camera angle. I like the action off the cloth - the table looks like it plays pretty sweet.

I notice that a lot of people in the 14.1 forum start runs from open racks (maybe after a previous miss). Do you guys usually just keep shooting rather than re-racking? Does it make a difference overall?

For me, when I miss, I auto-rerack. It's just a habit.

What do you guys think?

Steve may have been playing a match.

I re-rack most of the time.

Bill Maropulos doesn't. He says it gives him more practice transitioning between racks.

Sometimes, I knock a ball in and keep going to see what could have been, but 90% of the time, I start over.

I sometimes say to myself, nice spread, balls are all open, but because you f'd up on that shot, you don't get to shoot them. Now Concentrate!

14 on the table when you started; You make 13,14,14,2 = 43 ball run. Steve, you're going to have to get this math thing down.;)

Hey Dennis,

i just rechecked the video, i start the run with 15 balls on the table. i know this since my Opponent(My Wife) missed her breakshot and left me a full table to shoot at.

it was kind of hard for me to hit that shot any harder being that i was right up against the rail, plus pschologically knew that i was gonna end up with squat after the shot. if i had been another inch over to the left i would have been fine.

from where i was i knew after pocketing the shot, i was gonna glance the other ball and i figured i would just carom off and scratch right into the corner pocket. i guess i should of said F it and just let it fly....Oh Well

i have been making quite of positional and speed control errors. due to the fact that i am not adjusted to this table. this table plays alot better than what i am used to playing on. so english and what not is playing like it should, so i have to get used to that(I Am so used to playing on crap equipment)...Also the pockets are cut tighter as well. i would venture a guess that they are like 4.5" pockets. i will measure them today.

Thanks For The Feedback

I Was playing a practice match, i have been finding lately that taking ball in hand breakshots to start adds a bit more preasure on me....

i have been putting up more runs lately during game scenarios.

although doing the ball in hand breakshot works too because it gives you an opportunity to practice all varieties of breakshots !

The last 5 balls of the rack are the most important. If I start over every time, I lose out on that pattern play at the end of the rack. Starting with breakball in hand is like just breaking them up like an 8 ball break. You are more than likely not going to miss a ball in hand breakshot.
