vacuuming my table

I have a Dyson upright vac, and was wondering if it would be worth it to vacuum the table with the hand held attachments? I can't see putting the whole thing up there, so I was thinking of using the attachements instead.
 
Do yourself a favor and don't use the rotating brush. When using the hose and brush attachment, open the little door to cut down the suction a bit.

Like Purdman said also use the attachments you have to anyway to get under the rails..
 
Hand Held Vacuum

I would recommend a Shark Euro-Pro (800 watts) vacuum. It is a small hand held corded unit. It has 2 small attachments that can be used to clean your table. It has lots of power so it cleans very well.

You don't need to use the hose at all and the cord is long enough to get to the whole table.

The only improvement would be a cordless battery powered model.

I bought mine at Lowe's and it available at Amazon. Check it out. I think you will like it.

I use one of the little Dirt Devils, I disconnect the rotating brush and attach the hose, on this I use one of those feet attachments that is about 5 or 6 inches across. I put new masking tape on the bottom of the foot and is goes across the cloth really nice. It seems to have enough suction to lift the chalk without pulling up on the cloth excessively. good luck.
 
I use a Dirt Devil Ultra and it has the revolving brush. There's always a lot of discussion about this but I've been using it for several years and have had no problems associated with using it.
 
How much power is too much. I was thinking of getting the "Super Shark". It has a little bit more power at 1000 watts than the one listed above. Not sure if that is too much though.

I haven't used that one but I can say that the 800 watt model has a lot of power. In fact, when you press the ON button it torques your hand hard enough for you to feel it.

Like other posters have said NEVER vacuum with a rotating brush. I use a Kirby with attachments to vacuum my tables. The thing works great, I have a separate vacuum attachment just for the table, which stops cross contamination from the floor.

Remember to always vacuum and brush in the same direction, from head to foot or foot to head really matters not. You should even do this with Simonis cloth.

I just won a "Super Shark EP88" handheld vacuum with 4 attachments for $13.49 shipped on ebay. Not sure if it will be any better than just using my Dyson's attachents, but for I really can't go wrong for that price (Unless I get ripped off on ebay). Plus I won't have to carry the Dyson up and down the stairs. Thanks.
