Vegas baby Vegas!!!

Well I just booked my trip to vegas jan 24-28. F*ck yeah!!! This will be my first time, so I want to know what a pool player/poker player should do. It's my 30th birthday on the 25th and me and my girlfriend are staying at the luxor. I'm defenitly going to play some poker, golf, and maybe some pool too. Just wondering what the best places/ things to do would be?

Oh and it looks like I'm going to be a dad for the first time. My girlfriend hit me with that bombshell a few weeks ago. So I think my dreams of going pro have come to a screeching hault. Well I need all the advise I can get right now. Between turning 30, having a baby, and my last little hurah in vegas...I think I might be having a mid-life crisis:rolleyes:

Honestly, I'd forget about pool while there. Vegas is a ton of fun, poker rooms all over the place. Some great golf courses as well. The nightlife is awesome!

Have a good time with your girl while you still can! Your life is going to change big time!

Happy Birthday!

There are a few places to play pool, but you'd have to drive there or take a cab!

I only worry about pool in Vegas when it's BCA time, the other 5 times a year I go there is to party, let loose and remember what's it like to be alive!!!!

Congrates with becomeing a father, raised five girls myself...while in vegas get down to freemont street at night an see the light show..go to mandalay bay an check out shark reff,go to ceasurs I think? An check out the dolphins an regis's tigers..have lunch in the rain forest in the mgm an check out the lions...see a dinner show..but most import
ant don't try an see it all in one day...but hey..your young maybe you can..have a great time

Since you are about to be broke for eighteen years at least, play Shadow Creek.

And play most of your poker at Binion's, of course.

Yeah shadow creek looks like a great course. Definitly going to stop by Binion's too. Anyone know of some great shows to go see? I think carrot top is going to be at the lexor when I'm down there.

Congrats on the baby!!! and Happy Birthday!!! I lived in Vegas for a while and staying at the Luxor was a great choice it is easy connected to Mandalay Bay and the Excalibur. When I lived there Excalibur was known through out town as the poker room with the highest badbeat jackpots. Binions while very historic and the whole downtown experience is pretty cool. When downtown make sure to see the pool at the Golden Nugget. I am pretty sure that CarotTop does still headline the Luxor. Also if you are going to go to a show make sure to give a place called Half Price Show Tickets a look. They are usually limmited but worth a look.

Congrats Have Fun and GOOD LUCK,
Darin

Don't forget the Bellagio Buffet. I know, it's not pool or poker related but you'll kick yourself if you don't eat there at least once. Last time I was there, it was under $40/person and I wanted to eat everything in sight (twice, if I could). Go hungry.

Chicken Ranch.

Bunny Ranch.

I have been to Vegas at least 100 times over the last 25 years and I live in Mi. There was one time that some of the employees thought that I was a local. Seen a lot of changes. Had a lot of people telling me what to do as if I have never been there before. I just humor them and brush it off.

Just go and do the experience. Take it day by day and go with the flow. For someone else telling you what to do is useless. Case in point... see my idiotic opening of this post.

Enjoy your trip and don't feel as if it will be your last. That is what I said after the 2nd day of my first trip.

Forget pool and forget the golf. Your there for 3 nights probably but thats "Vegas time" and trust me thats like a day and a half in "normal time".

Plan your shows and find some ways to get discounted tickets. There are tons of internet places that offer discounts.

The Luxor as others have mentioned is close to several casinos.

IMO a few musts would be ...
check out
MGM (the lions are different and cool) Vegas Monorail station here also
NY NY ( pretty fun place with lots happening)
Mandalay Bay (shark reef and decor)
Bellagio Water show at night and buffet.. many things to see
Paris or Venetian ..GF spot maybe dinner and a gondola ride

Downtown Vegas -- at night of course. Its actually a pretty quick
trip down there and you dont need to stay long. Be careful down
there especially on the outskirts of fremont. Take a taxi not a
bus.

Other ideas -- take a part of a day and relax. Its a vacation and often
Vegas can take it out of you.
Pick out a couple finer dining restaurants (ones with famous chefs) and spend too much on some fancy food. You only live once. You and your GF will enjoy the experience.

You cant possibly see All of Vegas in 4 days so dont try. Probably cant see 20%. Golf and pool can be done at home. Only course that I thin would be worth it is in Mesquite about 1.5 hours away...Wolf Creek. Most hotels can book this for you and even can get you there..for a price of course.
You can spend an entire day just traveling up the strip checking out the casinos. The trolley or bus is a good option for this.

Have fun

Go see the Blue Man Group...it's not cheap, but i guarantee it's worth every penny! I've seen it like 3 times now...very cool!

I would definitely recommend going to see a Cirque Du Soleil show while you are there. One of a kind. A little pricey, but you can get tickets on the strip for a little discount.

There are a bunch of them but "O" is hands down the best one IMO. It's at the Bellagio!

Let us know how your trip was!

i know Carrot Top personally. his show is great, i can see if i can get you in

Head west on Tropicana to Decateur then turn right to go north to Pool Sharks - decent place to play pool.

You will have a good time. It's like a grownup's Disneyland - why Fatboy hangs there.

I'm going to Vegas tomorrow to check out the Aria, Venetian and then to Mandalay Bay for my daughter's wedding on Sunday - maybe shoot some pool.

Absolutely play golf in Vegas. Vegas has awesome golf courses. Reflection Bay is awesome. If you have a car, make the drive to Paiute Resort and play at least the Wolf Course. The other 2 aren't shabby either.

Night life is a must in Vegas. I recommend nice dinners followed by some clubbing. Bottle service is a must do to avoid crowds, lines, and to have a place to sit. Club XS at Encore is a good time. Blush at the Wynn is nice too if you're looking for more of a lounge..

As for shows, they are all over the place. Checkout 'Love' if you're into the Beatles. Any of the Cirque de Soleils are pretty good though.

Enjoy.

Congrats on the baby! I'm gonna be in Vegas at the same time for my brother's wedding. I doubt i'm gonna be playing any pool, though. I'll be waaaaay to drunk to shoot straight

One thing not to do and yet everyone does - GAMBLE! It looks like fun (that's the whole idea) but it isn't much fun when you're busted and using credit cards and your ATM to get cash. One word of advice which is doubtful you'll heed - Leave all the casino games alone! They're for suckers!

Play some poker if you must. That's probably your best bet, but kind of a waste of time if you're there with your girl. Have fun, go to some shows, walk the strip, go downtown. Even the casino lounge acts are great. Lots of good music everywhere. Go to the lounges/bars, listen to some great music and have a ball. Your money will go much farther that way too.
